Super spot, big gravel parking, perfect for Starlink, because the network is flimsy.
Stunning view of the mountains at sunset

Mamre is a big place on the side of the road which has a lot of terraces on different levels (might be a problem to bring your bike so high...) with tables, a toilet, a natural source with cold water, space to put tents, to make a fire, etc. I didn't sleep there but had picnic there with Carl from warmshowers that is in San Cristobal Totonicapan, so I don't know if you have to pay. You can ask him. I saw the owner that told me lots of europeans come and camp here. The door is always open! Just in front of the entrance there is space to park cars, maybe big rigs.

You can find them on IG: Mamre

We stayed one night here. Very quiet and safe at night. Good option to stay in the center and visiting. No shaded. There’s a water tap in the park in front of the church.

German Ridge Campground 37.95021, -86.58907

Quiet parking lot at the CBMM museum. A few people walked by late in the evening and in the morning. We left about 7:00am since we noticed a few staff started to show up.

St Michaels public parking lot 38.78804, -76.22211

Small area by the river, space for a few small vans. There is a bin here to help keep it tidy but it’s also in view of a building and the road so would recommend staying quiet. Road noise didn’t bother me at all

The campground is very nice with good facilities. We paid 50 reals per night for two people and a truck camper. Our only complaint is that because this place hosts events (like weddings) you could be in for a loud night, especially on a weekend.

Nice spot, big enough and flat enough for our 26ft class c. Roads coming in were decent, just need to go slow. Zero cell service and very thick tree coverage so no solar panels or starlink. Spot has a picnic table, fire pit, and an outhouse.

Really nice tent only camp site with covered cooking spaces and pit toilets. Even gets some cellular service which is rare in the park. Beautiful views and potable water.

Agree with Furthurinthefly. Stayed here last night. I’ll add that it’s one of those sites that has used every inch as a campfire over the years. The soil is sooty everywhere. It rained last night and the soil “caked” on our shoes. Very messy.

We’re in a 11,000lb sprinter Coachment Galleria with low-ish clearance and made it here easily.

NOTE: Starlink at this site will not work well here because there are a lot of obstructions.

As described, it is best to park at the Auto Center. We stood here with a few others. There are no no overnight signs or anything like that here either. Very quiet night.

Peaceful and shaded place, we spent a quiet night there. It is possible to hang hammocks. The sea is calm, warm and pleasant. The locals come here with the family to enjoy the beach, do a BBQ. A family gave us meat from their BBQ. Around 10 PM the police passed, looking at our vehicle but did not come to disturb us. Not too many mosquitoes and no sandflies. Only negative point there is a lot of waste. The 20km of track to come here are in good condition, but it is very dusty.

We slept in a slightly larger pull out 1.8km further. The night was very calm with in bonus of the freshness of the mountains. For information the track goes to a small village with a dozen houses, we met a police car surprised to see us there and who checked our papers. The police allowed us to stop for the night on the pull out. At sunrise 2 motorcycles passed, no traffic during the night. No Claro or Tigo signals.

During the evening, we had a horrible demonstration of cars smoking their tires: 15 minutes of boucan and unpleasant smells. Otherwise, no one bothered us; very quiet night.

you'll have to bring some gear down about 1/8 of a mile, but it's a neat spot.

Honestly the market itself is just a souvenir shop. Did not like it. The Asian food looked good but we only had a juice which was super delicious.
All in all I would not come here again for the market but for a swim in the river.

Good, homey diner! Got Huevos Rancheros Christmas Style, nothing fancy but cheap and hearty! Good if you’re hungry and wanting a solid meal!

El Camino Family Restaurant 34.06422, -106.89262

Nice stop for the night. It’s off the highway a bit so no traffic noise but big rigs pass through and a couple left their engines running all night. Didn’t really bother me. Much better than the rest stop a few miles east that is right on the highway. Good cell service with T-Mobile, no facilities.

We stopped at a spot at kilometer 1322 (towards Whitehorse) which seemed to be this one. Path which goes towards the forest and turn right. Large location for several vehicles and long vehicle. lots of flies flying

Irving is accepting travellers to stay at his beautiful place with a great view of mountains. He has toilets, internet,  he can provide you with water (showers are not available yet), place for grill, some outdoor tables and benches, electricity on request. There is space to put your tent or to park your rv, also space for big rigs as long as you can enter through the gate.
He charges about a half of the next door in the area, it's more basic but less crowded, and it's just a beautiful place. There are some friendly dogs and a horse on a property. He's also selling mezcal. You can contact him on +52 9514754125.
