Small supermarket which has the basic needs. Also bread and fresh fruit and vegetables. Prices are high, as usual in those remote Chilean places, selection limited. But the best we could find in Villa Cerro Castillo to at least resupply at bit.

Couldn’t recommend this RV park enough. $52 per night, hook up, water, hot showers, laundry room & access to fitness suite / pool at the hotel next door. Great wifi & friendly staff. Worth every penny.

Flat open area suitable for any rig. Very rock packed ground. Freeway noise is not bad... can hear it but I imagine it’s ocean waves. Notice posted for illegal smuggling may be present... so our pistol is ready but I highly doubt any issues would ever occur here. Maybe if you go way back further into the hills.
We are the only ones here. Quick spot to stop for a night but I would stay here for days. Better than paying $55 down the street.

BLM site recommended to me by the Saguaro Rangers on the west side, about 10 mins down mile wide road from the Red Hills visitors center. I noticed there was only a couple of spots further south and knew there had to be something closer. He gave me a small paper map of three different sites that we could camp for free, if you’re interested in the others have a word with the rangers in the visitors center for more info. This one is pretty secluded and has a cattle gate (be sure to close it after entering) the roads are excellent as the ground is all sand so no deep ruts. You could probably bring any rig you want to put here and find space for it but we went maybe a mile in for our spot just to get away from the entrance. We are in a converted ford e-350 van. You will be alone out here so if that makes you uncomfortable this site isn’t for you. Decent Verizon coverage and A+ AT&T coverage. Happy camping :)

Parked here on a Tuesday night. A class C was also here. A cop pulled thru around 8 and didn’t tell anyone to leave. Loud road noise but that’s unavoidable being so close. Gas station next store for bathrooms and gas. Great restaurant Conestogas Restaurant nearby with great food, family friendly southern place. Springs nearby. Awesome free place near to fun things.

Small wild corner sheltered from the wind in a grove, overlooking one of the arms of Lake Argentino. Accessible by a small track for all vehicles. There is room for several vehicles and tents can be set up under the trees. Close to the entrance to the park where it is forbidden to spend the night. Also close to boarding ports.

Benefits of traveling in the off-season, they gave us an upgrade to be closer to the bathrooms. Our original site was in the way back and those bathrooms are closed out there. It seems like they have some fun things to do here but we're only here for hot showers and full hook-ups. We chose this place because it was in our price budget. We felt like the other rv parks that had "Redwood" in their name they could charge extra.

Little border with almost no people. We came from the Bolivian side. Everything has to be made at the border on the Chilenian side, except of the Bolivian customs. The Aduana building for that is on the left side of the road at Charana's exit towards Chile. It's almost impossible to miss it.
After that you go to the Chilenian side. First we had to get our exit stamp at the Bolivian immigration container. The guy in there was a bit weird at first, though. He ask for a document called "relacion de pasajeros", what we didn't have. So he first wanted us to drive back to Charana to get it somewhere. Our Spanish isn't very good, so we had to ask him several times for the exact location in Charana and the name of the document. Suddenly he said, that he's going to ask at the Chilenian immigration container right next to us. When he came back, he started to create the document for us with his computer. Why not immediately - we don't know?
After that, the Chilenian immigration and customs was smooth. Finally a little luggage check and we were ready to continue.
Actually, all very nice officers. Only the start with the "missing document" was a bit weird.
The N19 from La Paz to Charana is almost completely dirt road by the way. So don't expect to be able to drive to the border in a short time.

Nice campsite. Not secluded, but convenient to both town and great hiking trails. Easy access in and out. Decent Verizon cell coverage as well. It was crowded in early March when I was here. It looked like there was a large equestrian group camped together, but I’m not sure if that’s normal for this time of year or not.
