Large campground with electricity, pool (open in high season), small lakes, fresh drinking water and showers (unfortunately cold when we visited due to maintenance). Open all year but during low season they sometimes close the gate and go home. So if you drive up the gate and it's closed, call the owner Rocio at 056 993502300. She lives 5 min from the campground. Rocio speaks good English, is super friendly and has great skills for instance to arrange our empty propane tank to be exchanged for a full one during a public holiday. Locals also use this campground for day recreation, but they don't usually stay overnight.

One of the best places in the area!

You get to the parking lot. Then you pay 100p entrance fee. But with this you can only do the first canyon on the right. To also do the second one on the left (the further one) you must get a local guide at the parking lot. Price for that is 1300pp.

If you'll want to do it alone anyway, they have a person standing where the two paths part and they will enforce you to take a guide anyway.

That's what we did, joined another group wlaking further. We didn't feel it was a rip off however - the guide was nice, he got us some helmets when entering a super narrow canyon, he pointed out some indigenous ruins on the way back etc.

Well worth it.

In addition, we asked to the owner if the water os potable, they certified it, so we fill oue water tank, and despite 4 filters of my water red and addition of a little bit of bleach, when I drink the water I was sick, and I had belly pain.

Really beautiful and private spot, highly recommend!! You have to follow the road past a Refugio but it looked empty and unused and then the spot is hidden out of sight. So peaceful and great to watch the sunset over the lake. Thanks to the original poster!

Arrived around 9:30pm, most of the lights still aren't working so it's very dark. Bathroom is older but clean. Very loud, didn't sleep well at this one.

Row of primitive camping sites. I left a voicemail to register and then I had the park to myself all night. No privacy between sites but I got lucky that no one was there.

We parked there for a night. We weren't the only ones. Very quiet night.

In the morning a local came and told us it was prohibited to camp or stay overnight in Qualicum Beach and that we had the chance that a guy didn't came in the morning has he usely does. We think it was just intimidation, but we finished breakfast and left

We asked permission and we’re told okay for one night and to park out of the way, on the side next to the hill on the west side of the parking lot.

Theres more than a few pulloff's along timberlands road. We stayed at one that drove into the forest a little so it had some good privacy. There is an active quarry nearby so expect some trucks going in and out, but nobody disturbed us.

Awesome. Just by a creek. Quiet. No one else there and road had no traffic.

Hurst Creek Park 47.55305, -124.27618

Just liked others described. Good dirt road that any RV or Van can handle. Pit toilets were clean but only 1 of the 3 restroom doors was unlocked with no lock on door. Very dark at night. Water turned off for the winter. Sites were spacious. For 3 bucks you can deal with these issues.

Can confirm this place is still here and still beautiful. Use to find the gravel road to find it. If tenting just watch out for broken glass on the ground. (cycling/tenting)

As below. Drive 200m further than the pointer and take a turn down the slope to your right. Immediately after, follow the dirt road on your right hand side. Soon after, the dirt road bears left and directly away from the road, next to the eukalyptus plantage. We just drove down a bit until we thought we were far enough a way from the road. Arrived in the dark, not advisable. Be careful of the enormous potholes when approaching.

Lovely place, spent 3 nights here, loads of wildlife around, spotted 2 wild dogs too even. Ablutions clean and good working order. No WiFi or drinking water but great views around the hippo pool and the river from campsite 3. Our favourite site and close to the ablutions and reception. Road to here from Mababe or Maun still very poor condition. Our 10t truck just fitted through the access road.

Mbudi Campsite -19.09884, 23.78778

What a beautiful creation! A tented lodge around a beautifully set waterhole with some private campsites around it. We camped here for 4 nights and had a brilliant time. The managers Johann and Jolanda plus their staff looked after us while we enjoyed the solitude and wildlife at the campsite plus the pool and lodge facilities too! Johann was even to help us in rewelding some broken brackets on our 10t truck. Thanks team Mankwe!!!
Elephants and hyenas visited our camp more then once, and kudu, impala and steenbok hung around too. What a great spot!

We had a great stay with Jamie and Mel! we took a surf lesson with Jamie which was awesome and definitely progressed our surfing ability. Mel was great with our toddler and kept him happy with a chalk board and baked treats! the shower was great for cooling down and our dog got along well with theirs. If you're looking to do some surfing on the east cape and want some local intel, this is the spot!

very good place to stay a few days. very comfortable inside court. bathroom could be cleaner, but it's okay. We had the night for 6000sdp (for a double room) after negotiations (but Ahmed Mousa wasn't hard to convince !). For the moment, it is the same price at al-Nasr hotel, but way more comfortable here.

Little pull-off near where the Redding Loop and Spy Rock trails intersect the road. Recommended size for pickups, SUVs and cars. 1-2 bars of cell service with T-Mobile. Will get some people parked nearby for the hiking trails and saw others park nearby overnight and camp overnight by Spy Rock which is about a half mile walk away from this site. Very little traffic going up and down the road. Forrest Ranger drove right by me and didn't bother to say anything if this spot was allowed for camping or not.
