no necesario? no gracias. can we go?
I pointed down the road, let the clutch engage and rolled on without getting held back, took it as a go to continue. was a less than 60 sec stop, might have been a little rude from our side but he directly started with his payment and we took it as trial on how to handle such checkpoints. went good without payment, we were curious if he has friends that might check up on the paper slips he seems to hand out but no such thing happened.

good stop for a night. nice showers but toilets need some attendance. very friendly guy handling operations, arrived with two cars as first visitors of the day and got the spots for 150 MEX each. same guy offered free coffee and a chat the next morning. two nice dogs wandering the grounds. would definitely recommend as transit stay

Pump is operating, we could fill up with diesel. N$22.55/l. Payment by cash only. Nearby is the workshop (owned by the country lodge, too), go there to get someone to fill up your tank.

Few nice campsites along the riverbed. N$180/pppn. Electricity on most sites, and water taps, too. Showers and toilets still in pretty desolate condition, but we’ve seen worse. Friendly people. Good for one night stop. They’ll do game drives to see the desert-adapted elephants, too, if you like. Don’t know the price, as we drive ourselves.

Outdoor showers available at Orchard Beach. Water was still on in late October. You could fill a water jug here or bottles at the adjacent water fountains if you were in a pinch.

Free parking in the off season which starts the second weekend after Labor Day.

Decent spot for wildcamping. We were with a car with rooftent. The ground is not quite flat. For one night we thought it was fine. You can park, or place your tent, close to the bushes so you protection for the wind. No harm from traffic or loud people. We camped in spring, off season and not in the weekend.

The ranch is an animal rescue that offers both a converted bus and camping sites. The bus has a double bed, a couch that can sleep 1, solar power, a propane stove, WiFi, and a hot shower. The campsites have a place to take bucket showers, a shaded area, and a fire pit. We offer a true off-grid experience where you can escape, disconnect, and hang out with all of our friendly animals. Our place is home to dogs, cats, horses, pigs, goats, sheep, and chickens. It is just a short 10 minute walk away from the beach. There is plenty to do in the area and we would be happy to show you around or give you suggestions on what to do. Please send us a message over Whatsapp before hand, because it is a bit tricky to get to. 52-616-104-7858

Very quiet and safe Walmart to park in. I ended up staying here two days and absolutely fell in love with the little town of Brawley. If you’re into drinking beer and hearing stories head on into town and go to Naty’s Place and hang out with Ray, the sweetest old man to exist. Spent the whole two days helping him run errands because his car had broken down and made a very valuable friend.

Go down the hallway to the second window, Vihiculo Control. You’ll need copies of passport, title and insurance. Takes about 30 minutes. You may be able to buy insurance here if you don’t already have. Lady is friendly and building has AC and parking.

The driveway is also no problem with a van. We had a quiet night. Next time we come with our Toyota we will continue to stay after the weather station (everywhere cameras by the station)

Great spot to get out of the heat, the only place with grass coming up from the desert… perfect for tents, chill place to hang out by the river.

Gated camping in Iquique with a bathroom, warm shower, tiny kitchen and electricity option. Washing machine use for 5000 cp. Super tight quarters to park because of the property’s numerous shuttle vans. Pickle ball courts on property played loud, heavy bass music past midnight. Some rooms are nearly priced the same for 2 or more people camping. Great paraglider community!

Altazor Flight Park -20.28406, -70.12462

Former five star hotel now abandoned after the civil war in Liberia. Stunning views over the capital and the building itself is impressive. Recommended to visit at sunset. Compound is locked and guarded so you’ll need to find security to let you in and guide you around for a small “tip”. (Or you can sneak in)

Took my time and spent an hour in there. Gave 5 USD which the guard was more than happy with.

A man named Jenora seemed to be the big boss of the place and gave the orders. Phone 07702 92704.

Suitable for BigRig, camp in the bush with smaller and larger pitches. Nice and well maintained camp. Faucet with borehole water.
Track from Detema Dam a bit muddy when it rains.

good place for a night, though it gets very busy in the mornings so expect some noise early.

Ringos camping -22.65501, -46.99587

This could have been a wondeful place, but there is trash everywhere. We arrived late so spent the night nonetheless. It was quiet and there are several spots in the dunes along the dirt road. It did the job for one night, but would not recommend longer - too much litter all around.
