A fabulous campsite right on the Lower Zambezi River with a clear view across to Zimbabwe on the other side. Pitches are spacious and grassy/sand with plenty of shade drom trees, fire pit, electricity points, washing up area with cold water and amazing ablutions with powerful hot water at all times, flushing toilets and super clean. Ruth and her team are extremely lovely and offer boat trips and game drives if required. We had elephant and Hippo visit the camp and watched groups of ele Cross the river frequently. We could hear the lion roar over night and slept with the sound of hippos and the African bush. We did a long day driving to the Lower Zambezi game reserve, 2 hours there and back, but game to see en route and 6 hours driving in the park which is very beautiful. Good elephant and buffalo sightings as well as lots of buck and birds. A really lovely and relaxing place to stay.

plenty of spots right along the river with shade - many big enough for karge groups and good size rigs. super beautiful but, the road can be a little rough in some places.
forester with road tires did just fine.

Back the parking lot, on the grass. Beside the soccer Field. During the s’immergea, they seem to accept boondoking. We are unabable to pay for the parking after 5h pm. We pass 2 night-club. Quiet, train no so far.

We stayed one night here. We had a nice traditional Costa Rican lunch and felt welcomed by everyone. There is a sizable camping field with several parking options, but unfortunately none are really ideal for rainy season as far as trying to avoid being surrounded by mud. The bathrooms were clean and toilet paper was provided. We didn’t use the shower. The highlight was the short staircase down to the beautiful river. Caspian was able to wade in the water and build a tiny dam. He had a lot of fun. We would’ve stayed longer were it not for the mud. Maybe we’re softies, but rainy season is long and mental health is real, y’all.

Do not go past this point if you have a travel trailer. there is no way to turn it around. if your camping in a van or tent there are 2 more spots on up. I have 2 bars of Verizon service here. it's peaceful and quiet. 2wd accessable. but this spot is designed for multiple campers so you won't be alone.

Recommend avoiding this location due to harassment by local police.

Arrived after sunset and spoke with two police patrolling on ATV who told us we were safe to camp anywhere around the lake, whether the concrete boat launch in town or the other areas around the perimeter. Parked on the grass just to the north of town where several photos here on iOverlander were taken. We woke to different police knocking and yelling at 2am asking if we were high and wanting to inspect the vehicle. After talking them down and explaining we had spoken to local police on ATVs earlier they calmed and asked us to move to the well-lit area of town. We then woke to music blasting at 6am and locals yelling in our windows as if to jump-scare us. Worst experience in Mexico so far. Lake is beautiful notwithstanding!

Campground in Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. Very nice place in the forest. The gravel road to the campground is not recommended for big RV. Suitable for vans. 18 Dollar for the site.

Ended up at the Pemex because it was pouring rain and roads to nicer spots were too slippery for our rig. But it was fine. All night traffic and lights, and the mosquitoes were awful, but we slept well.

Definitely worth checking out this place!

Beautiful camp sites. If it’s open, grab the highest one at the top of the loop as it has the best views of the canyon. I arrived late at night in the wind and rain and was relieved to discover that this campground did in fact exist. If you’re coming from Wyoming, the entire drive here is dirt road once you hit Colorado. Very remote and desolate. Make sure you fill your tank!

Only one other camper was here during my stay, despite it being a weekend.
