An appealing spot to overnight. The highway traffic was loud—not frequent; but when trucks passed by there wasnt much to muffle the sound—but died down after dark and didn’t pick up again before we left around 8am. There are some big trees which make for evening and/or morning shad (not much to be done midday). Good breeze over the plains so pleasant sleeping. Relatively flat. 2 bars VZN LTE.

A perfectly good gravel load leads from the main road (paved) to this desert hills. After 500m or so the road splits and you have the possibility to turn around easily. Different places to choose from in this area. Very quiet. Wind protected. Also nice to walk around. No 4wd required.

The owner Talent and his guys work really fast and are reliable. They can do anything related to tyres and little mechanical things like a service. They seem very knowledgeable. We had all our tyres changed here and a full service at a reasonable price. They told us they can fix motorcycles and bicycles too :) open every day 6-18. Emergency number: +263773627460

Land Rover mechanic. We were directed here by the Land Rover sparepart shop already mentioned on Ioverlander. Only did a small job but it seems like a very reliable and experienced little garage. They work only with Defenders and they rebuild them from Land Rover parts as well. The mechanic's son is an engineer and he speaks good english, he works with his father in the garage some days. The garage is situated in a large garage complex. Second floor.
Open also on Saturdays. https://instagram.com/odabas.oto?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Um lugar aparentemente seguro. Isolado, você tem que ir até próximo ao mar. O lugar fica numa baía tem um pier de concreto, que você não vê da estrada. Pare e caminhe até achar o lugar. Hoje, 22/06/2022.

We parallel parked on the street, along with a few other vans. There is only enough room for a handful of vans. The park is nice and the beach has bathrooms open during the day and an outdoor shower. Safe, quiet after dark, and pet friendly. We would defiantly stay here again.

After 2 days of searching, we finally found this place ‘Toledo’, where they were willing to help us fill up our US propane bottle. First they sent us to a shop in town, to buy the right adapter (fergas -27.469374, -58.83025). Adapter wasn’t perfect, but they changed it to fit. They wanted to buy ours, but we will keep it. So, they told us they will buy the same parts, so they will be able to help other travellers in the future. Gonzalo Toledo is very helpful, ph. 3795044092. Perfect!

Two options at this site: one dirt road approx. 20m away from but in sight of road, one small forest clearing about 50m into the woods, out of sight. Smallish rigs only, very quiet, free, no infrastructure.

Wild camping on the beach with parking for cars. We set up a tent. If you arrive at low tide remember the water will be rising so set your tent up at the top of the beach. We swam, but it’s cool water. Intended to paddle board in the cove but forgot to pack the pump. Lots of driftwood for campfires. Another tent was set up when we arrived further down the beach on a hill by the tree line. The cottage owner was in and out (gated) but didn’t seem phased that people were using the beach area as the cottage has its own private shore front area. Watch for glass in the parking and on the beach. Some graffiti on the shore rocks. Not much nearby but it’s a small touristy island in the summer so lots of take out food, veggie stand, art galleries and small shops.

A fabulous campsite right on the Lower Zambezi River with a clear view across to Zimbabwe on the other side. Pitches are spacious and grassy/sand with plenty of shade drom trees, fire pit, electricity points, washing up area with cold water and amazing ablutions with powerful hot water at all times, flushing toilets and super clean. Ruth and her team are extremely lovely and offer boat trips and game drives if required. We had elephant and Hippo visit the camp and watched groups of ele Cross the river frequently. We could hear the lion roar over night and slept with the sound of hippos and the African bush. We did a long day driving to the Lower Zambezi game reserve, 2 hours there and back, but game to see en route and 6 hours driving in the park which is very beautiful. Good elephant and buffalo sightings as well as lots of buck and birds. A really lovely and relaxing place to stay.
