Argentina Immigration

extend your Visa here if you can't or don't want to cross to Chile. it's 2700 pesos for 90 days more. open 8-1 m-f

nice spot. fast open wifi. big grassy areas. picnic tables, etc. some road noise but generally a great roadside stop.

Refugio Lopez +(tourist attraction)

very steep and relatively boring hike up to this standard refuge. the trail us in pretty bad shape. about 1/2 way up there's a restaurant. The refuge itself was 1200 per person or night including pizza for dinner (served past 9:30 pm) and toast for breakfast. bring your in food I would suggest. the beds we're very uncomfortable and creaky. the room smelled of dirty socks even when empty.

in the plus side this us one if the few dog friendly trails and refugees in the area.

At the riverside

great quiet spot for the night. highly recommended for a night.

Lost Beach, past “Small Bay at Lago Ranco”

lovely spot that our family really enjoyed. a bit busier than we had hoped but I guess February weekends may be like that everywhere. nice and warm and generally out of the wind. a bit if pretty sift sand just as you reach the lake but many 2wd cars passed with inly one car getting stuck for a moment. bugs come out after dark a bit.

Rio Bueno Municipal

great little spot for a night. it was super quiet on a Friday night and even on a Saturday it was very quiet until 1 pm when we left. it's a great spot for a rest definitely nicer than a gas station or roadside place. lots of space even for big rigs. the road down is dirt but any vehicle would be fine unless it's crazy muddy.

Pizza Malal

we rented a house near here for a month and after several months in Argentina we found the empandas here to be very good. they use a flacky dough which we all loved.

multiple reports of robberies and car break in in this area. our friends camped near here for a few nights and had a window smashed when they left for an hour. others were robbed while sleeping here. avoid overnighting here or leaving unattended vehicles. otherwise it's a beautiful spot.

BSL language school

we contacted many Spanish schools in Bariloche and received many crazy quotes with super high prices. we choose BSL in large part due to the pricing but we really enjoyed the teachers and the staff was very nice. our young kids also really enjoyed their teacher.

Case Caracol

skip this place if you can. the food took over 90 minutes to arrive and was mediocre at best. my wife specifically and clearly ordered the pequena cevicev and then we were billed for the 900 pesis "deluxe". the staff were rude and didn't seem at all apologetic that our lunch too 2.5 hours and cost 3000 pesos for 4 adults and 2 kids with no alcohol. the locals told me this place is no good but the one accross the lake is decent. maybe for a beer this could be an ok spot but there's many other nicer friendlier spots to drink and sleep

Free wifi Dina Huapi

still good wifi. was able to download some necessary big files. got about 5 mbps

Camping Agreste Arroyo Cataratas

200 pp per night 100 for kids hut we agree it's worth it here fir good showers and million dollar views. the good spots are down a switch back road to the lakeside near this marker. even a big rig could make it down. it was quiet for Ys just before Xmas but he said Jan and Feb were his real season. the spots further west and accross the river seemed nice too but we prefered this side. some strange woman in the other side git a bit upity with Ys about my dog despite several dogs living here. she asked if I had vaccines and the tried to tell me I shouldn't play fetch with stick in the river since they might damage the boat propellers. I smiled and largely ignored here given the impact if one small stick in a lake often full of deadfall and with a swift Sund blowing all abandoned sticks to shore...

recreational ground

This place is permanently closed.

P.N. Nahuel Huagi - Paloma Araucana

300 pesos per person per night 150 for kids a bit expensive for us so we decided to drive on.

Free WiFi at ROKO supermarket

very slow wifi but it worked in an area with no service. ATM just down the road at the new visitor center but it seemed to be out if money when we tried it

recreational ground

nothing at this spot like described. I think it's closed or put in the wrong location.

wifi was crawling but the shops are good including the auto accessories shop.

Gas Station

very nice gas station much more pleasant than many other stations we have seen in 4 months in Argentina. I'd guess that theft was random since this us pretty remote area. last good gas station and water for a while heading towards Bariloche.

Fenced rest area, free

nice little fenced dirt area just off the road. no water or facilities but it's quiet apart from the occasional passing car.

Cuero De Zorro

arrived on a Sunday evening. charged us 300 for our motorhome (van) plus 100 each for adults. it was busy with day use people who all left at dusk. new decent bathrooms which seem to soon have hot water. crazy amount if lake flies. the mist we have ever seen in our life. it's probably seasonal so I doubt its always that bad. nice and quite at night despite the epic rain storm.

I don't think this place is ever free except off season.

english book shop (unicenter mall)

nice big mall where we stumbled upon a pretty big English bookshop. parking here us height restricted but if you need some books and don't want to venture into the city's on the 3rd floor.

palmas del pilar and jumbo nice guarded mall

nice outdoor mall with guarded parking no height limits. good giant supermarket and home center store too (like Home Depot) if you need to stock up before heading out if BA area this might get a good option especially if you are worried about parking security. oh there's also a big movie theater here.

Papa Dog

we left our dog and van here twice while we spent time traveling with my mother-in-law. (without our van) the owner is very nice and the property is quite big. we paid 330/day fir our dog and van but he mentioned that he recently raised his prices a bit. there a dirty toilet which you can use and a pool which was nice and clean when we visited. he allowed Ys to sleep in our can there one day for no extra charge and said he welcomed others. you can get Uber from here to the city for $800-$1200 pesos. or visit the large nearby mall.

bridgstone firestone tires.

great shop recommended by Andean roads. fixed my cracked rim by driving the rim to a nearby metal shop for a quick weld. High volume professional tire service.

Delta Unplugged

$200 usd pp for a lunch on a boat. seems a bit ridiculous to me.

YPF fuelstation and rest areal

really nice spot. lots if parking and picnuc tables surrounded by birds and animal sounds. we arrived on a Sunday afternoon and were immediately chatting to tons of locals who were BBQing. the road noise us minimal and for some reason no trucks stop here. the WiFi is very fast and works in the parking area quite far from the shop. shower was 30 pesos and quite good. toilets are clean and even let you flush your paper. :). good kids playground.

gomeria jauqim

fixed a leak in my tire in 10 minutes. it's a but if a basic shop but he seems to know what hes doing. we paid 300 pesos.

Military checkpoint.

no one here but possibly south bound only.

Faro Malvinas Memorial

I'm not sure why anyone would stay here is the lighthouse parking lot. they don't seem like nice spots as they have no view if the sea at all. it's far better at the spot below.

Station shell Atlantico

decent bathrooms. wifi super slow. small shop as normal. lots of parking if you want to sleep here.
