April 27th, 2022 Nice free spot for overnight or more

Beautiful free spot with a decent dirt road up to it. Near a water tank and the generator and pump may be on. I parked on the opposite side of the big tank facing away from the generator in my van and couldn’t hear it. Turned it off for the rancher once the tank overflowed. He also came by and said it was fine to turn it off if it’s too loud at night as long as you can turn it back on in the AM or until it overflows.

Almost no traffic during the week and great access to trails that are often accessed from middlegate. Buffalo creek mining district is nearby as well. Happy camping!

I’d recommend at least all terrain tires, if in 2wd or carry a shovel just in case. No high clearance needed and no service. I wouldn’t recommend a BFRV, but campers vans cars etc should be fine.

March 1st, 2022 Picnic Area

Nice picnic area with garbages. Texas allows for 24 hour stays at these. Quiet for an overnight, lots of vehicles during the day. VZW has good signal, ATT is okay.

January 20th, 2022 Cracker Barrel

Nice and quiet other than the highway, and not the circus that the homestead CB was when I stayed there. About half a dozen other sleepers, not bad for free in the city.

January 15th, 2022 Parking lot next to dock

Really nice night of sleep, traffic is pretty consistent until about 9 but not very close. This lot is in a nice dark spot and other than the boat ramp there’s no reason to pass through. A couple other vans got here in the night and didn’t park near the water and didn’t have issues. All in all a good iOverlander spot for converted vans stealth or not. Fishing shop, food and gas station all within a few minutes walk.

January 11th, 2022 Cracker Barrel

Nice quiet spot. Big lot with plenty of room for large rigs under about 40’ larger can be accommodated taking up multiple spots. Little bit of activity during the week with lots of vans and trailers.

January 8th, 2022 Easterlin park free water

Potable water and dump station. Water is free, dump is not. Fee paid at park office. Didn’t need to dump so I didn’t check since I already paid to enter. $1.50 per person on the weekends only. Worth it honestly, camping here as well.

January 3rd, 2022 Planet Fitness

Not a bad overnight spot. Stayed in my 4x4 170” sprinter with no issues overnight. Surprisingly quiet and very little traffic after 11. Nobody bothered me and I saw about half a dozen more stealthy vehicles. Nice to have a PF shower first thing or just before bed. Like the OP said, lots of little nooks to occupy.

January 1st, 2022 Planet Fitness Royal Palm Beach

Stayed overnight behind planet fitness, unknown stench back there that doesn’t go away. Not sure if it was the RV parked back there or not. Nobody cared or bothered me and I left pretty late in the AM. Stayed on Thursday night. Handy having a shower just before bed or first thing in the morning especially with the humidity here. I’d give it a 3.5/5 stealth is required and the lot isn’t huge but my extra 170” sprinter fit just fine in a space.

January 1st, 2022 Florida Highway 76 Rest Area

Decent place to stay, big dirt holes in the dirt road for the rest area. Fairly overgrown and right on a corner of the highway so trucks are always slowing down and speeding up. Verizon wasn’t really strong for me even with a weboost. I recommend getting here late and being very cautious with low clearance rigs.

December 28th, 2021 Skyway Bridge rest area.

Beautiful area to be, confusing place to understand. Parking on concrete before the pier is where you should park. Instead of going right into the rest area, go left towards the pier. The pier is gated with a booth, so you can’t accidentally drive on to it. If there are signs saying “do not park on right away” it means the area near those signs, which is grassy. I managed to park behind the signs overnight but was told to move by a road assist truck at 7am. He said I could park on the concrete as long as I wanted, but not near those signs. Also from sunrise to sunset there’s a whole different part that opens up with beach parking on both sides of the highway. No RVs or travel trailers are allowed in this area, but I didn’t get bothered with my sprinter.

To recap you are trying to get to the fishing pier on the southwest side of the island to park overnight but not actually go on the pier, park after you pass the “no parking on the right of way” signs and park on the concrete either side at your comfort level.

Night shot is where you don’t park. :-)

November 29th, 2021 Texaco Truck Stop

+1 for showers, stayed the night, fairly quiet out in the dirt lot. NAPA behind the station is handy too. Breakfast burritos from the cafe are delicious as well. Sorry about my alarm Ford Connect. Working on an issue lol

Good spot for a quick stop, friendly staff.

November 28th, 2021 Potable Water and sanitary dump - City Park

Currently closed. Both dump and water due to potential environmental issues.

November 26th, 2021 Flying J

Lots of spigots, none on. Wouldn’t recommend, might just be to avoid freezing even though they are freeze resistant.

November 18th, 2021 Painted Rock Petroglyphs Campground BLM

Beautiful BLM campground with tons of spaces $8 a night and lots of room to spread out. Paved all the way to the campground.

October 29th, 2021 I-8 W. Rest Area, MM-108

Very nice dumping oasis in a sea of costly dump stations. Water pressure is stronger on this side of the highway

October 29th, 2021 Sunbeam Rest Area

Very nice dumping oasis in a sea of costly dump stations. Water pressure is stronger on the eastbound/northern one.

October 26th, 2021 Mohave desert recreation area

Great area! Plan ahead for up to 30 minutes of looking for a spot once you reach this location. This location is the beginning of all the opportunities to boondock. Any of the roads In any direction past here will have spots around. I recommend using satellite shots to find pullouts. Stay out of washes, and definitely don’t camp in them. The sand is deep and they can flood even when it’s not raining on site.

October 19th, 2021 Athena Launch Complex

Mostly as advertised, really really cool to check out. This was a missile test site, not a nuclear missile silo. The missiles were stood up and launched from pads, not stored to be launched in case of nuclear war. The military didn’t store uranium at this facility, that’s actually much closer to Green River on the other side of I70 where there was a refinement facility. No need to fear radiation here, we weren’t in the habit of radiating places where people live and work. Having said that this place was used and abused by the military for decades, be careful.

October 15th, 2021 Free dump station at Terrible’s

Free dump station with red spigot water not defined potable or not. Located at the papa John’s end of the parking lot across from the flag pole. Look for RV Dump Station sign.

October 1st, 2021 Dave Deacon Campground

Nice free campground with dump station and water. Water is not marked as potable. Beautiful high desert.

October 1st, 2021 Free dump station at Dave Deacon campground

Decent Verizon service, dump station left upon entering the campground in the far corner.

October 1st, 2021 Free dump station at Dave Deacon campground

Free dump station with non marked water spigot, free campground too. Beautiful
High desert.

September 2nd, 2021 Peter Skene Ogden State Scenic Viewpoint

Peter Skene Ogden State Scenic Viewpoint cool canyon with beautiful bridge crossing. Restrooms and lots of spots for overnight stays. All the cell networks. Be careful with pets and children, steep and sudden canyon sides have apparently turned dogs Into lemmings.

July 18th, 2021 Belle Fourche Visitors Center

Geographic center of the country

Address for new water location is on old water filler (tower with box on it and overhead fill spout near dump station)

I just filled up here, but I also have a counter top filter along with the fill up RV filter.

July 17th, 2021 Roadside Park

Road closed barriers at one end of loop, and the other end has them moved out of the way. No more covered picnic areas, but the dumpster is still here. Play it by ear, but nobody bothered me. I got in late and left early, and the trains are at least once an hour, usually more since this is where the passing lane is. Far enough from the highway for cars not to see you at night, but once the sun comes up it’s pretty obvious!

June 18th, 2021 Free dump station in Fernwood, drinking water as well.

Free dump station with drinking water for tourists according to the sign. Nice and clean. Follow signs, behind fire station.

June 15th, 2021 Army Corps of Engineers Devil’s Bench

Campground, day use, pit toilet, boat ramp. With fire pits, covered tables, garbage service and room for all vehicle sizes. Ice Harbor Dam and Lock are right in front of you with a nice buzzing noise. Quiet during the week, not sure how it is on the weekend. No AT&T or Verizon for me.

June 11th, 2021 Rest area

Dump station open, looks like it’s closed seasonally. Drinking water spigot present but not currently working. Non potable present at dump stations for flushing.

June 11th, 2021 Rest Area

Potable water spigot present, but not working right now.
