July 10th, 2016 MNAC Parking Lot

Free parking by Catalonyan National Art Museum. Trees give a bit of shade, but there are no spots, which have it all day long. Lots of parks nearby. There is free wifi by the MNAC. Relatively quiet at night, but toilets are scarce and their opening hours vary (if they are open at all). The only ones we found opened on Sunday were located at Plaza Espana. Campers are forbidden from using the parking.

July 9th, 2016 Parking Lot In Sitges

Shadowless piece of bone dry land, which acts as a free parking for the beach some 500m away. Overnighting here seems to be tolerated, we saw a couple of people in mobile homes. We did not stay as there are no facilities anywhere nearby and the beaches were very crowded and did not allow pets.

July 7th, 2016 Playa Mar Bella

Parking lot next to the beach. Some spots are surprisingly quiet. Free of charge, but only rigs lower than 1.9m will be able to drive in due to height restricting barrier. Free showers(24h) and toilets on the beach(9:30 to 22:30) and Mercadona super market 600m away. Probably one of the best places to wild camp in the car near the center. Stayed here for 2 nights. Avoid on weekend as the music in nearby bars might keep playing until 3 am.

July 6th, 2016 Roadside Blues

Emergency docking site on a patch of dirt by the road leading to the ferry. No amenities and no traffic. Zillions of harmless flies.

July 6th, 2016 Plage Camargue

Some 4km before the beach along a dirt track there are a lot of signs saying that it is a private property and that car camping is strictly prohibited. Nonetheless the locals do seem to go there regardless (but do they camp?).

July 6th, 2016 Ferry Crossing

The ferry operates from 6 am to 12 am and from 1 pm to 7 pm. Take the timetable into consideration if you are headed towards plage camargue.

July 6th, 2016 Free Wifi

Free and fast wifi at Maison du Turisme. There seems to be a 2h limit per device.

July 5th, 2016 Picnic Area At Valle Nans

Parking lot by the road(traffic dies at night), which includes a picnic area and acts as a trailhead for nearby mountains. No facilities and it is explicitly forbidden to light fire and pitch tents. No idea what is the attitude towards car camping, but we decided to give it a try and see.

July 5th, 2016 Gorges du Verdon

Begining/end of one of the best drives in the French Alps.

July 4th, 2016 Pont Du Fosse

Looks like the place is being rebuilt and that's why it is open for wild campers like us. The main entrance was locked, so we used a small dirt track around it. We camped between the soccer field and the river by some wooden tables.

July 1st, 2016 Hotel Mariol

Worst food ever. If starving go the nearby supermarket.

March 24th, 2016 Car Wash

Best washing service in town, we were here twice already. Guys do a better work than at the Southern end of town and usualy there is nk queue. Paid 50bs for a Land Cruiser.

March 23rd, 2016 Road construction

Aviod this road if you do not have plenty of time. They are building a new one and between 1 pm and 4 pm a small section it is closed in both directions. Also, around 150kms of this road is a dirt track, where one cannot drive faster than 35 km/h.

March 23rd, 2016 Cabanas Trudi

Cosy rooms with private bathrooms for rent. Clean, quiet and dog friendly. Water under the shower is really hot! Paid 100bs for two people. No internet.

March 23rd, 2016 Not so level spot

Grassy area on the top of a hill. Possible to level out using stones. Quiet.

March 23rd, 2016 Gas Station 'Velez'

Filled up jerry cans for local price.

March 23rd, 2016 Lunch and dinner epicenter

Come here to choose from a dozen or so cheap restaurants serving grilled chicken, milanesa, etc. Lunch menu is 12bs. Popular with locals.

March 22nd, 2016 La Vispera - Hotel

Did not decide to camp due to he price: 40bs for the car plus 40bs per person.

March 21st, 2016 Pioneiro gas station

An okay place to spend a night. There is a hotel, restaurant, toilets and open wifi. A bit loud at night as the road is only 10-30m away, but on Saturday when we ere there, there was little traffic.

March 20th, 2016 TruckStop Petrobras

Fat left corner of the stop between the yellow houses and fields offers enough privacy and protection from road noise to have a good nights sleep.

March 19th, 2016 Restaurante Chaleira

Tasty free bufette for R$17,90 per person. Meet, veggies and fruits among others. Slow wifi.

March 16th, 2016 Capibaras

Strech of the road where it is very likely to see the capibaras.

March 16th, 2016 Veu de Novia waterfall

Entrance to the trail to the waterfall. Open from 9 to 16. No entrance fee.

March 16th, 2016 Porto Jofre

Be aware that Porto Jofre consists of only two establishments: a hotel and a camping. Other than that there is nothing, nowhere to buy food or gas.

March 16th, 2016 Shaded site

Possibly a good wild camp, with lots of shade and dry land, but also some mud/still water. Next to two deserted buildings and a wooden wagon.

March 15th, 2016 Pousada / Camping Porto Jofre

40R per person for the camping, 70R for open buffet dinner and 850R for whole day boat trip. We didn't use any of their services.

March 15th, 2016 By the river

Nice place by the river, in front of an empty house (not open yet? already closed?). Has a small roofed space with two working sinks. Lots of mosquitos.

March 15th, 2016 Hotel Porto Jofre Pantanal Norte

The boat trip price went up to 1000 Reales. In March we were told that a trip this time of year would make no sense as there is plenty of water and it is very hard to spot animals.

March 14th, 2016 ATMs

Junction with 4 different ATMs: Caixo, Banco Brasil, HSBC and another one.

March 14th, 2016 Sanitary check

When comming into Brazil they will take all your fruits, veggies, unprocesed seeds, canned fish/veggies and spices. Vaccinacion certificates are enough to get a dog through the checkpoint. Veeeery friendly staff, but doesn't speak Spanish.
