March 27th, 2021 Free water and paid dump station

Didn't use the dump station, but the water is working. Good place to fill a tank or bottles.

March 25th, 2021 Brownes Bridge

Five sites with picnic tables and fire rings, a few more without amenities. Vault toilet, easy to get to. Close to the highway but it's not too busy at night. Free camping for seven days in a 30 day period.

March 15th, 2021 Fishtrap Lake

Nice place with a bunch of pull outs, most with fire rings. Easily accessable with 2wd in the dark. One sign says closed for the season but there is still a port a potty and there are plenty of people here.

March 10th, 2021 Glenbrook Rd pulloff

Little pulloff with fire ring and nice coffee walk into the woods. Close to the road but no cars passed overnight.

February 18th, 2021 Sparrow Park Rd pulloff

A little pulloff on the side of Sparrow Park road, enough room for a van. Flat, with a pull off on the other side to turn around easily. Easy to get to with 2WD in the dark.

February 14th, 2021 No Camping Sign. Check other sites further down the road. Boardwalk Trailhead Parking (next to Jeffrey Pine Loop trail)

I got here at about 7 on a Sunday night, one other van was already there. Soon after I arrived someone in a loud truck stopped by then sped away tires screeching. This happened again ten minutes later, then the third time of this I moved on.

February 14th, 2021 Bird singing camp spot

Seems like the flattest spot on the old highway, road noise isn't bad and only a few people passed during the night.

February 12th, 2021 White Lake, Hwy 395, CA / NV stateline

There's a chain across the entrance stating private property, no use without permission.

January 27th, 2021 Wildlife Management/BLM

Pretty nice spot, with a good view of the nearby canyons and not too far from the highway. Easy to get to with any vehicle, but seems like it could get a little messy if it's wet. There are tracks around like it might be a dirt bike spot, but being the middle of winter, I only saw one public service truck and another car that seemed like it was looking for a place to stay. There's enough room for a few cars but not many trees so there wouldn't be privacy.

December 22nd, 2020 Large site off the road a bit

A big site with an established fire pit. Right next to train tracks that woke us up a few times during the night. Close to the freeway but not too loud in the van. The path back might be a little tight for big rigs, but it's pretty smooth and there's plenty of room to turn around.

December 1st, 2020 Underneath Railroad Bridge

Decent little spot, nice and flat for my van. I didn't hear the freeway but several very loud trains came by in the night.

July 15th, 2020 N. Ventura Ave

LOTS of RVs and cars parked along here. Some noise from the nearby highway, but not too many cars along Ventura Ave. Flat spots and plenty of them.

July 8th, 2001 Trout Creek Rd campsite

A little offshoot with space for a few vans and two fire rings already here. Kind of lumpy, but can get really level with a little maneuvering.

July 7th, 2001 NF-2027 pullout

At an intersection with a blocked off old road, enough room for one, maybe two close vans. a little sloped downhill but laterally flat. No traffic in the afternoon/evening and only two trucks at about 9am. Nice little coffee walk up the blocked trail to a lookout over the little canyon.
