Camping Milos

Camping Milos is open but only for summer season!

Camping municipal Rio grande

180 per tent, 136 pppn, 220 for trailers, 315 for casa rodante, 370 for motorhomes. We have a Toyota Hiace cargo van & we were charged as trailer. All prices include electricity &
BBQ. Free until Xmas day. Really expensive after New Year for a municipal camping. Hot water, clean toilets, lots of shade, by the river, 10’ walking from the centro. Avoid Jan-Feb, gets really busy. No wifi.

Camping Las Sierras - Rio Chico Nono

650 pesos for a van & a couple during high season (end of Dec until end of Feb). Dont know how much they charge before or after. The usual amenities.

Camping municipal Rio grande

180 for a tent/ 315 for a camper van/ 377 for motorhome PLUS 136 pp. All tariffs include electricity & BBQ. One of the most expensive municipal camping in Argentina. They start charging after Xmas day. No wifi, filthy toilets, cold showers (hot between 18-22 during high season), next to the river, lots of shade, 10’ walking from the centro. Dont know when they stop charging. We stayed 3 weeks for free early December until Xmas). La Rueda & Santa Rita were around 400 pesos (vehicle & 2 persons) with more amenities & cleaner. Avoid Jan-Feb if you can.

ANDOLUCAS CAMPING MUNICIPAL

Update: Dec 2018. Still no cats... Very sad..

Permanent Military Post

Very straightforward & professional. Asked for documentos. We gave them our passports, vehicle registration & TIP & seemed to be enough for them. 1 min job!

Ferry Paraguay - Argentinia

55K guarani Or 10 USD for a camper van & 5.5K or 4Real for the port tax. November 2018.

Entry to Argentina

Dont attempt to cross this border without vehicle insurance. They denied the entry of our van because we dint have one. We were planning to buy at the first town as we are usually doing the last 6 years in almost 50 countries. We had to take the barge & go back to Paraguay. We dint manage to buy online (that was the plan b but no success). Other than that, they asked for the usual paperwork (passports, vehicle registration & INSURANCE!)

Ferreteria San Justo

In this ferreteria, you can find gas adapters. One side is for Paraguay (male) & the other is whatever (also male). See pics. If the “whatever” side fits in your non-Paraguay bottle, then you are just fine & you can go in a gas station with an LPG pump to fill up your bottle. If not, you can go in a torneria & make your own adapter (check for another spot in Encarnacion). We paid 48K Guarani for this adapter.

Torneria Baukloh - Encarnacion

We bought a gas adapter from a ferreteria (check for another spot) & he basically made a “new” adapter for our EU (Greek) gas bottle. He just created new wider male thread that fitted in our female output. See pics. We paid 50K Guarani. Another guy in the same city quoted for 20K but then he realized that he couldn’t make it.

Dont forget to use the little gasket from your fitting. Our regulator has one black rubber gasket. With the “new” adapter fitted, the pump didnt let the gas to flow. Because of the extremely high pressure of gas, there was still leakage. Then I remembered to use the gasket & then everything worked!

All good! Fresh gas again ;) In Paraguay its so easy to refill in almost every gas station. We paid 80K to refill (the minimum charge for 10kg/18 lts).

There is no sign to find it. You will see a big garage for motos. The torneria is just across at the entrance of a building. Look for a black door.

Campamento Maranata

Proper name is Maranata. Still work with donation. Really friendly & welcoming! Recommended if you want to escape from the crazy CDE.

Ciudad del Este - Street with private parking lots

In case you want to hang around CDE & visit the malls, there are 4 private parking lots in this street. Big enough, some have no height restrictions. Would be harder for big rigs to reach & fit inside but perfect for combis, camper vans & 4x4s. Its 20.000G for 3 hours. Good shopping ;-) There is also a bank just across this spot in case you want to withdraw money & at least 20 cambio stores in the vicinity.

Camping Clube do Brasil (near Iguaçu Falls entrance)

There is no sign to find it. Just look for the light blue building (“the restaurant”). Completely run-down. 1 warm shower only at the ladies side. The owner leaves after 5-6 & “locks” the gate. You are wondering why you pay but it’s almost the same price with the Falls private parking. We paid 25R pn for 2 people & a Toyota Hiace Van.

Near the Buraco das Araras

This spot is literally on the middle of the road. There is an eye-drop shape roundabout. The spot is just there. There is almost no traffic, just the entrance of the nearby camping but still its ON the road. I am not sure if this can be called wild camping. So stupid; we forgot to take a picture!

Access to Estrada Pantanal Sul (Corumbá)

In this well signed roundabout, you get access to Pantanal Sul. Turn to Porto da Manga. The dirt road starts right after. All easy when dry. About 118km from the north entrance to the south.

Pantanal Wilderness Experience

Great stuff, great service. They speak perfect english. Super welcoming, accommodating & friendly. They organise tours in South Pantanal & they are very professional. Unfortunately, they were out of our budget but still we would highly recommend them. Their tours vary from 2-4 people, 2-3-4 nights and they start from 600-900 pp all included.

Posto BR Draceñao

We normally dont input spots with gas stations. BUT, this spot is for all of those who pay 30R next door to park in a gas station. Huge semi-gated parking lot & all the usual amenities.

Public parking - Goiás

Ample parking spot near centro historico of the town of Goiás by the river. No amenities. Ideal for mega truck campers/ RVs. Has two buildings but not signs. Free & quiet. (We only stopped there to cook our lunch, didnt stay).

Auto Posto Ipiranga

August ‘18. Fully working. Super clean facilities & super fast wifi! Great stuff.

Fazenda Sao Bento (São Bento, Almécegas I & II Falls access)

In this Fazenda, you get access to 3 waterfalls: São Bento, Almécegas I & II. Its 15R pp for Sao Bento only or 40R for all 3 falls. They have a pousada & a restaurant as well. Its 9,5 km drive from Alto Paraiso. You can also rent bicycles from Alto Paraiso & come here; there is a great paved side way for bicycles or running along the main road. You can also swim in all falls. Almécegas I is so amazing!

CEASA Brasília (Mercado)

Fresh produce, cheese, nuts, natural products. Cheap cheap cheap. Lots of space to park. Since Brasil does not have open Mercados like Perú, Bolivia, México etc, CEASA is the best alternative. Look for CEASA in all big cities. They will not disappoint you ;)

Tolls on BR-040.

Info about BR-040. From Belo Horizonte to Brasília, you will encounter 8 toll stations. 5.10R for cars/vans & 2.55R for motos. They accept only cash. The whole stretch is in OK condition. Lots of petrol stations & road assistance.

Igreja de São Francisco de Paula

Best bet for spending some time in Ouro Preto. Free & quiet. Showers for R10 at the nearby bus station (toilets & showers at the lower level).

Free public parking - Tourist Center

The parking lot is downtown. Big rigs can fit, no height restrictions. Its not big but not tiny as well. Municipal police office just across. Extremely convenient & free ;) Toilets & showers in the little complex next to the parking lot.

Immigration Office - Federal Police

Inside the Praia da Costa Shopping Center. L4 level. You can ask here if you can extend your visa. You need an appointment before proceeding with the extend procedure. We went there to inquiry only if we can extent (Greek passport) & they accepted us without prior arrangement. For the record, EU passports cannot extent. Also you need to stay out of the country for 180 days before re-enter.

Truck Station

Showers 5R. Good internet. Bla bla bla bla bla

Municipal Parking - Arraial d’Ajuda

Huge public parking lot. When we arrived there was a “settlement” of 4 combis already. Have also toilets & showers for 2R. 1’ walking distance to the city centre. Not guarded but the whole town is relatively safe.
