Alhambra Caravanas parking

Perfect for a night when visiting the Alhambra. But not free, as we thought first! It’s a steep 31,20€ for a night with no facilities.

Erratzu parking

Nice parking located in the village of Erratzu. Beautiful views. Public toilets are in the towns small center, which also has a view restaurants. Bring your own toiletpaper ;-)

Camping Toy

Really authentic campsite. Beautiful piece of land, perfect to hang out and for kids to play. Clean toilets, hot shower, wifi. Run by a friendly owner that also speak a bit of English. 13€ for a night im van, without electricity.

Lake university area

Campus parking lot, not much else, uninteresting area.

This is a perfect free parking spot for campervans in the middle of the town of Melle. It’s a bit secluded from the road and has a toilet. There are some hiking trails around.

Simple but effective parking for a night in a cute little town. Crêperie is closed on wednesday, might you be interested...;-)

Our garden (cyclists and hikers only)

Stop here and meet Peter and Anne in the cutest house in the woods. You will have a great time :-)

Slot Loevestein

Perfect for a night. Free, but they appreciate if you visit the museum. No amenities.

Hermans Family - overlanders

Stop here and meet the Hermans Family, you won’t regret it!

Banjercito Veracruz

Opening hours are 08:30 to 15:00. Make sure you check opening hours for national holidays....!

Sistemas de inyección diesel

Recommended mechanic. Cesar is a really kind guy. He speaks perfect english. We gave him notice of our arrival some days in advance and even though he is really busy, he made time for our truck, while we only had a few days for him to work on it. If you have time he would for sure be able to help yo find parts for your truck. Cesar cannot help you prep your vehicle for shipment, but he will probably allow you to park jn his workshop to work on your car yourself, also he is open to help you with any other contacts or materials you might need. We could sleep in our car in the workshop. Really convenient.

Eco Park & Camping La Cotorra

Great spot! We were dealing with a really friendly guy named Jorge, but I guess it’s the same place. Located in mountainous field with “natural” swimming pools. We got to park in the car park opposite the site for free. Jorge said it was safe at night, but he also offered us to stay in his garden in town or he would let someone come for 150p to guard the place while we were there. They brought us bread and fruit in the morning! (When navigating to this place, use maps.me because google doesn’t recognize the road leading here.)

Rincón de San Agustin

We didn’t have a good experience here. They pumped up the price to a steep 150pp plus 80pesos for the car. We managed to get it down to 350 total and were promised a nice hot shower in return. Their worker would bring us the keys to the shower but he never did. The next morning he only came to collect the cash. We didn’t agree with the price, since we weren’t able to use the showers. The owner, who wasn’t even there and we had to talk to on the phone, would only give us 20p discount for not being able to use the shower and even told us they would call the police if we wouldn’t pay. Not worth its money at all, unless you like poor service, karaoke noise at night and a trumpet band in the morning, then you came to the right place!

Restaurant Mar y Sol el Playa del Sol

Basic restaurant at the beach. Fish wasn’t good and expensive.... Kind people, but couldn’t really care less about our presence.

Finca Ixobel

This place is super comfortable. The cabe hike is an absolute must, best cave hike we’ve done so far! You could bring some dry clothes and extra pair of shoes for the way back, we didn’t and were also fine, but when it’s not that sunny you could get a bit cold after the cave. Prepare to swim and bring a flashlight. Camping for 40Qpp and hike for 85Q pp (with 5 people)

Ixpanpajul Nature Park

Perfect camping for a night! We were alone and had the whole place to ourselves. There was an outside kitchen area and we could make a fire.

Restaurante Ernesto

Beautiful spot at the lake side! We could park our rig directly at the lake for 30Q for 5 people. Probably the best deal we’ve got in Guatemala..! Really kind people and you can take a shuttle from their door to Tikal and back for 50Q pp.

Balneario Ejidal Buenavista

As mentioned before; place has a new owner, Javier, and he has been putting a lot of work in cleaning and restoring this beautiful spot. It really shows! For 200p (two people) you get clean toilets and showers, camper parking on the grass and swimming in a beautifully clear laguna. Recommended!

Beach Camping

Good spot to camp. Lots and lots of plastic though, feels like you are not making any difference filling up a few bags with cleaning, but it makes you feel a bit less awfull...

Great place to camp at the beach under coconut palms. Paid 200p for two people in big rig. Friendly owner. Clean toilets. Punta Allen is a perfect place to get away from Tulum crowds, have a fresh coconut and relaxxxxxx!

La Pausa

Nice hostelvibe and superkind people. Owners have been traveling with a van and know that a safe and welcoming spot to park is essential for your trip. It is indeed street parking, but you wont get anything better in Puerto Morelos, you can use the kitchen, toilet and shower and we could even hook up to their power. They ask you to contribute whatever price seems fair to you. We loved it here!

Dzibilchaltun plaza

Didn’t camp here, but the ruins are def worth a visit. You can even swim in the cenote with extremely clear water and waterlillies!

Puntas San Miguel

Friendly owner. Weren’t allowed to use the pool, but you’re next to beach. The water was a bit smelly though, it didn’t bother us. The showers are superclean. We had the place to ourselves, and could use the kitchen that is linked to a super cozy bar and dining place from where you can watch the sunset. We absolutly loved it! 250 pesos for 3 people

Izamal Camping at Hacienda Santo Domingo

We thought this place was highly overrated. We arrived when it was 39 degrees with our 72 year old mother. Had to park on an unshaded piece of desert that is also used as storage. In the bloody heat we couldn’t use the pool even though there were no guests in the hotel. We had to pay 350 pesos, no electricity.
The owner treated us like shit, very unfriendly guy. We were overwhelmed with his attitude towards, not recommended!!

Hotel Okaan

At the gate they might be a bit difficult and tell you no, but after some chatting with the reception we could stay here. Superfriendly people. You get to park at the reception where there is a clean toilet, and an interesting mural....;-)
We could use the pool and restaurant is open. Ask where, you can view Chichen Itza from a roof terrace! go there during sunset, absolutely magnificent!!

Laundry Maxi Clean

Moved to an other location around the corner. On calle 41 in between c34 and c32. Called Maxiclean

Extremely expensive toll road

A warning for an extremely expensive toll road. We had to pay 562 pesos for our truck with two axles, didn’t see that one coming!

Rio Nizuc Picnic Area

Super spot. Beautiful water and quite. Police knocked on our door at midnight, but we didn’t asnwer and they left.

Extremely expensive toll road

Also note there are no facilities along route. You’re pretty much stuck on this road, for +/- 100 km no Pemex, make sure you have a full tank!

Flamingo spotting

A biginning of a road into the flamingo waters. You can pull up here and camp, a bit away from the main road and a good place to start a walk into the lagoon and spot flamingo’s! We had a quite night, windy though!
