December 24th, 2020 Auto Service Kosta's Dimoulis

Mechanic for all vehicles including trucks. Speaks good English.
Likes to meet overlanders.

January 13th, 2020 Aygaz fuel station

This is a fuel station. But, if you find the right person to talk to, you can get gas bottles filled... We have 5kg German bottles. There is an Aygaz filling plant about 200m away. They refused us and sent us here.
One of the attendants has a 'home-made' adaptor device.
Use this place at your own risk - we were getting desperate...

December 17th, 2019 Petrogaz

We had our German propane cylinder filled here.

January 8th, 2019 Propane fill in station

They happily filled our 5kg German bottle for 55 Dirham, but told us it wasn't possible to fill our Spanish Repsol K6 bottle.

August 9th, 2018 Brian Hayes Auto-Electrical

phone: 07989 581071
Best to call as he does a lot of mobile work and could be away from his workshop.
Was very helpful with a couple of issues we had.
Not too expensive.

June 21st, 2018 Liverpool Marina Car parking

We stayed in the parking next to the Yacht Club. All parking areas around the marina are pay & display. You can get the access cards for toilets, showers and washing machines during office hours inside the club. There is also a place for emptying your elsan - toilet cassette - and a tap for filling tanks with drinking water.
Very convenient to visit the world heritage sights of Liverpool.

May 29th, 2018 Wasch Salon

Outside the city of Trier, near the University, in a small shopping centre.
We parked our medium sized vehicle - 7T Vario with box camper - in the parking lot.
A great and accessible do it yourself laundry.

May 25th, 2017 Swiss Wassi Zorritos

We dropped in for a couple of days on the way to Ecuador. Had to leave Peru cause our visa was over. 2 days in Ecuador and we returned for almost 3 weeks. It's a great place to relax and recuperate. We feel like we had a holiday and now we're ready for Ecuador. Melba's bread, yoghurt, Ceviche & Pisco sours are to be recommended. And access to the icecream freezer was sometimes just too tempting. Internet was better than most here suggested. It does come through the mobile network, but we got quite a bit of work done online.

May 4th, 2017 Petroecuador

After a long day crossing from Peru, this seemed to be a good option for 2 tired people. We parked between the station the cemetery. We assumed it would be quiet because of comments here and also because the main highway bypasses this town. Our assumptions were proved wrong. The trucks know this is the shorter route, and they take it - all night long. So this is not the place for you unless you can sleep through constant truck traffic noise.

April 23rd, 2017 Hacienda San Antonio, Banos del Inca, Cajamarca

Entrance gate to the hacienda at these coordinates:
Take the Otuzco Road. It's on your left as you cross the bridge. Great place for a few days relaxation.

April 23rd, 2017 Cumbe Mayo Wild Camp

We have a big rig and may have been able to drive down to this site, but it's rain season and the road was one mud puddle after another. So we parked almost directly across the road from it, about 100m from the road entrance, in a gravel pit. 800m from the entrance to Cumbe Mayo. Level and quiet.

April 16th, 2017 Gravel Soccer Field

Soccer field next to the road (which has hardly any traffic) in a small village. Level. We only used for lunch stop.

April 11th, 2017 Parking Field Of Karajia

Street in front of school. We parked on the side of the road. It want quite level but ok for a night, now that the great field is becoming the plaza!

April 8th, 2017 Waqanki

Impossible to get level but otherwise a nice and quiet place. Gate is barely 2.7m wide - tight fit with a truck.

April 8th, 2017 Waqanki

Impossible to get level but otherwise a nice place. /S 20 for the night, /S 10 p.person for the colibri viewing point.

April 4th, 2017 La Muyuna Grifo

Not too bad if you have to stay in the city of Tarapoto. Two blocks from the plaza and main supermarket. We dealt from here, on foot, with a lock repair, laundry, and shopping. Walled and gated parking lot set back from all streets. Not quiet, but it could be much worse. Free if you purchase some fuel. Tip: just around the corner is the icecream parlour La Muyuna - yummy home made icecream!

April 1st, 2017 Nuevo Jaén opp. church

Off the main road, large open space, mostly grass, we found (in the wet season) the largest spot of asfalt for miles. Very quiet over night, no barking dogs and only distant roosters.

March 30th, 2017 Behind small village

Turn off at soccer field, behind the square of houses is a large level area. Very quiet over night. The local family, whose house was the closest, was really friendly. Not many level places to get off the road...

March 25th, 2017 Between stadium and lagoon

Not too bad for a city location. Two options:
1. GPS reading, opposite a 24 hour security post, on a grassy (more weedy) patch. This is between two roads, but traffic really calms down over night. The bad thing: there are several night clubs across the lagoon, so you hear some *distant* music.
2. Behind the stadium: quiet residential street, lots of parking, but maybe less secure (according to a statement by the attending security guards).
Neither spot suitable for tents!

March 2nd, 2017 Convento Santa Rose

Although you cannot overnight on the grounds there is a large parking lot in front; see seperate entry!

March 2nd, 2017 In Front of Convento Santa Rosa de Ocopa

There is a large parking lot in front of this convent. Nearly level. You find some gravel, some grass, and shade trees. Peaceful over night. Good Claro data reception.

March 1st, 2017 Lubricentro & Truck Wash

Not the cheapest but reasonably clean and competent.

February 26th, 2017 Dead-bridge parkup

Great spot. Easy drive down a well maintained gravel road with our truck - sinks truck width in parts. Quiet and very scenic. After a long day's drive, it was a welcome sight.

February 25th, 2017 Repsol station on NEW road to Azangaro

1. good marker to find the new road when coming from the south. Please refer to the two warnings marked further north.
2. large dirt parking lot and lavadero - a bit away from road and pumps = possible overnight place for those who stay at fuel stations.

February 19th, 2017 Just before/after 4000m alt.

Emergency stop for deaf people as you're no more than 15 metres from the road edge. Place is sloping, can't get level. Being in a sharp bend you get light from passing vehicles and extra noise from brakes and gear changes.
Just West of Huaytara a new grifo is being built - you'd be better off to look there.

January 17th, 2017 Hotel Wilkamayu

A lovely hotel off the main road with parking in the back. S./135 for a matrimonial, including breakfast.

January 13th, 2017 Wayqey Lodge

Self-contained units - ours slept 6, with 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen and spacious living-dining area. We could Park our big truck in the parking lot. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Some English and German spoken.

December 29th, 2016 Centro Comercial el Carmen - everything computer

This place is in wrong location - it is located at -13.52056, -71.98041

December 29th, 2016 Centro Comercial el Carmen - everything computer

I brought my laptop here. I really thought it was dead! 2 days and S/.50 later I have it back with all my data saved and working perfectly. I used oficina 105, but there are many to choose from.

December 18th, 2016 next to Raqchi cimetery

This spot is as described, but we had some problems finding it since our GPS map didn't show the streets. Also, the streets are narrow - we just managed to squeeze by a large rock and some of the trees hang over the road and really scratched the truck. We mention this as a warning to big rig owners.
