Ave Fénix - autopista 145d - before Cosamaloapan

We called Doña Martina, as we saw her phone number on the app, to ask her if we can spend the night at her place. She was extremely kind and happy to help. This warm-hearted woman lives and works by herself in her nice restaurant (closed at night) and is really happy to get some company. She has bathroom and 2 showers under construction. She was kind enough to wait for our arrival and parked us behind her house where no one can see you. .We were also welcomed by kind dogs, chickens and geese. Yes it is close from the highway but the traffic at night is not that bad and we felt really safe. We even stayed with her the day after where she cooked for us, showed us her beautiful garden and taught us lots of knowledge on plants, trees and fruits. She never asked for any money but we gave her a kind amount as we received so much from her.
Also if you feel like staying with her for a while she really needs help around as she takes care of everything by herself, of course this is not the glamorous place in the world but the love and wisdom you will receive in exchange is priceless ! One of these meeting you will never forget !

We stayed for a whole week there. The place has got this kind of tranquility that we love so much. Olga is a great person. We had bonfire nights by the lake and always shared a good coffee in the morning together it was great. As described the amenities are above most standards as well. Just go, relax and enjoy this little corner of paradise.

MULTISERVICIOS "BRAVO"

Multiservices from Jerry !
We got the interior and exterior plus the whole frame very well cleaned for 220 MXN. Then he adjust the brake drums and calibrate the pads for 400 MXN. It took him and his employee 4 hours to do the whole service. He speaks a little english. He is nice and helpful.

Bad road

Did the road West to East . From Cunén to the Rio Chixoy steel bridge : everything is fine (just a little section is sketchy) . And then the dirt road begins . It s perfectly fine with a 2WD but just plan 2 hours to reach San Cristobal from the bridge . And as said on an other comment, Google is pretty accurate on timing . Enjoy beautiful landscapes all the way !

Quetzaltrekkers

We wanted to hike a volcano around Quetzaltenango and went to their office. It was a great adventure with them, everything is well organized from transportation to breakfast, lunch and snacks. Our guide Bianca was so passionate and interesting. She cared of everyone's needs and rythme. We paid 300Q per person for the whole day including food and part of this money is reversed to local school and orphanage. You can also get walking sticks with a 100Q deposit. We can only recommend to get to know them, they are amazing!

Hotel Posada Antigua

It really is a great place here !! Nice family runs this little hacienda with clean rooms . We parked our van while our friends took a room so it was free for us . Wifi is great and there are outside toilets . The parking is completely inside the hotel garden so it is really safe .

El Pacific Surf house

Perfect spot for chilling in a very nice area . Lots of shadow. Pool is very very clean (water is changed every three days) . Skate park and outdoor gym. Good waves just across the street. It gets busy during week ends of course but if you are looking for calm then all the week is perfect. The restaurant serves delicious sea food with homemade french fries. The owner Greg is a very nice french guy who is part of the local community for several years. He leads a bunch of ecological projects and is also a lifeguard volunteer. Enjoy !!

Pension De Autos 24h

Still 50 pesos per night. Very nice owner who works a lot for no big money. He even let us fill our tank with water. Very close to the center.

NOMADS Camping

Matt is the french owner of this very nice and simple campground. He will charge you 50 pesos per person per night. He speaks english and spanish and knows his way around very well. The showers area is still in progress but the kitchen is fully functional. There are hammocks, chairs, tables and even a swing to relax while watching the magical sunset. Pets are welcome if they get along with Matt's two dogs. Jango and El Dogtor. The boca is right on the corner for surf. A little bike ride will take you to manzanilla beach which is a very consistent swell all year long. ENJOY !!

Amor Tropical Cocktail Bar & Kitchen

Beautiful cosy little bar in a garden with a stunning view. Great cocktails and food. A little pricy but totally worth it !! Enjoy !
