Los Banos KOA Campground | Okay campground with swimming pool perfect for cooling down. We paid 48$ with full hook ups. Some road noise but overall comfortable stay. |
Tradewinds RV park | We stayed here after spending a fun day exploring Napa Valley and wine tasting. $40 with Good Sam discount full hook up. Clean showers and toilets. Service with smile and they reply to inquiries via e-mail unlike other campgrounds here who didn’t bother and charge 100+. Good for one night and getting ready to explore SF downtown. Next morning We took ferry from (around 2.5 miles drive) to fisherman downtown. Takes 1 hour and pp $15 each way. Campground has the time table. |
Redway tire shop | Cheap and quick service. $10 to fix a nail in tire and putting back the fixed tire. |
Shell with "free" dump station | Location is off.. keep going and shell is on right. was unlocked but sign does say for customers only. Non potable water |
Elk Prairie Campground | Summer usually fully booked. We got a last minute cancellation so booked over internet for 2 nights costs additional 7.50 per booking. Showers quarter a minute and no dump for RV’s. no AT&T signal or wifi at visitor centre. Hikes in red wood forest are simply amazing. We did a 12 mile loop from campground to beach- fern canyon really awesome to enjoy this place. Shot hikes are plenty and beautiful too. Saw 4 bull elks in full glory. Totally Worth it. |
Darlingtonia State Natural Site | Entrance is free.. super cool to see so many together |
coastal lookout | There is a clear no camping sign posted as you turn in from highway. Spots are Right in front of residential properties- you can see people sitting in front yard and vv. No privacy at all. we left. |
Grizzly Tuna - fish and chips | Delicious fresh fried crispy Tuna in batter and chips. We are not Tuna fan but this was real nice - shop does only this and does it well. $11 for large and $9 for small. We shared large and was enough for 2 people. you can order drive through or line up amongst cars no other option . There are benches to sit across the shop. |
Rest Stop - South bound | Allowed 8 hours stop but obviously no checks. Separate areas for Trucks and RV’s though trucks invade. They idle so we parked in car spot as we could fit fine. Little better than sitting next to idling tucks and RV’s with generators. Standard noise from being next to highway. |
Big Howe Park | We parked for the day and walked to pike market ( must do great food, vibe). Walking is involved for about 50 minutes one way and it’s hilly so good exercise. Didn’t stay overnight. Road is tight squeeze for 9 feet Wide so we left. Watch for tree branches. Only porta potties and lots of kids. |
Trailers Inn RV Park | Stayed in 31-S which fits up to 20 feet. USD 46.30 for full hook up. Wifi is now upgraded so was fast. Don’t expect friendly reception (they have forgotten smiling so nothing personal 😄) rest was okay being only 12 miles from downtown price is for the location not view. Small book exchange, TV room next to office. Toilets clean. |
Boeing - factory tour | 25USD pp for 1.5 hour tour. Very organised, entertaining and educational. |
Dutch boy Laundromat | Many size machines $3,4,6 etc. dryer 25c :16 minutes. facility |
McLean Park | Good for going to Downtown otherwise nothing great. About 1.5km walk (though you walk through some shady part of town, lots of people on drugs sitting around but no one disturbed us.not sure how safe will be after dark and don’t suggest). once you cross that 1/2 streets you get next to water which is beautiful walking around downtown lots of eating places, mall and gift shops.
Free parking | It was near impossible to find parking in the village. We almost gave up them found this turn where no parking restrictions were posted. It’s street parking.1.5km easy walk to centre of town all paved trails. We used it for a day also walked to lost lake nice workout. Free |
Spotless eco- friendly laundromat and dry cleaner | CAD5 for double loader (nothing smaller than that) bigger yes. Dryer CAD 12 minutes. Neat place though can be busy as owner does a lot of her loads so just ask for machines as she finished her stuff she can immediately pull it out. Near the aquatic centre so was handy to wash swimmers and gym wet clothes |
Raailway Ave | 1 Dump station and potable water. Free of charge |
Riverside Campground/Sanidump | Showers are not free they are part of camping. There is now code lock on toilets and showers- 453. Nice big sites |
Burns Lake Municipal Campground & Lake | We arrived around 2pm and many spots were available including a corner view one which we took. By late evening fully taken so suggest come early. Multiplex next door now charges CAD 6 pp for day use. We used fitness centre (okay nothing great but did the job) and hot showers. Nice one night stay. |
Fish Creek | Mid July onwards is supposedly the season but still no action. One fish arrived yesterday. Talking to rangers advice was come mid August to be sure. |
Rainey Creek Campground | Campground set amongst rainforest - old trees with moss surrounding you. Peaceful green sites well spaced. We pail CAD 29.40 incl taxes for 15Amp electricity site. Showers are free, hot and unlimited time. Wifi also included and worked okay on close by sites to office like 26 (Mac had strong signal but iPhone catch was weak.. works fine next to office).Drinking water available , need to use city dump. |
Morchuea Lake | We arrived around 5pm and place was empty so had a pick of spot. Nothing is really lake front you see it from far From two front spots everything else is in forest with big picnic tables n fire pit. Many many mosquitoes 🤬.. definitely quiet being far from main road. Some big potholes but doable with any vehicle. |
Jade City RV Parking | No time limit on hot showers so little expensive for 10cad but worth it after many days of boondocking. You get a key from front desk to shower+toilet in the cabin to left. |
Boya Lake Provincial Park Campground | A very beautiful turquoise blue water huge lake. Luckily bush fires were not this side ( we had plenty of them in Alaska). Skies were clear and it was splendid. Canoe were from park only (self registration of that too but couldn’t work out whom to pay) every one was using them for as long etc no checks. Nice 1.5 km return hike to beautiful beaches. Though we didn’t find swimming easy as you just sink in mud. we tried but in the end just took a shower in RV’s to wash off the mud 🤪. We came around 11am and many lake front spots were empty by afternoon all gone (Monday).Overall recommend especially if skies are clear |
Lakesite place (Across rest area) | Two beautiful sites right next to lake. A splendid view of clear water lake, mountains and yes a beaver came around at 9ish pm. Our small RV just fit in perfectly so lake was 5-6 steps away. Road noise minimal and after nightmarish stay at C.superstore in Whitehorse parking lot this felt like heaven- just why we boondock 😊 |
Canada Game Center | We used it twice and simply great place. Gym is modern, swimming pools huge, Hot tub and nice steam room all for around cad pp 7. |
Real Canadian Superstore of Whitehorse | Road noise is just horrible. We endured somehow because were not sure if we could park near to the supermarket building may be better - worth checking as road never quietened. |
campground chilkoot river | It’s a state park. River flows through it and there are some small shallow rapid areas where potentially bears can fish. There is a cool counting barrier too where a state employee sits and counts fish which crosses and you can see their spawning places on a map. No bears were present or talking to the guy he mentioned no many have come so far. May be end July early August when salmon dies they come to eat dead fish. To the day around 12,000 fish had crossed over and they will all eventually die after spawning or so was his assumption. Scenery is beautiful .. many bald eagles around. |
At the Richardson Highway | Very easy to access even for a big vehicle. We took first left in to woods back in, had a nice view of river from window as there is small cleaning between trees, private and much needed shade as it was super hot day. Good night sleep |
Carlson Center Fairbanks | Google takes you to other side of river if point chosen from iOverlander app. We had to put Carlson centre in google and then head towards grassy parking lot. Quiet night. |
