Victor Lau Shipping Agent

Worked with Victor and his colleagues to clear out our vehicle from the port. We shipped with Maersk. You’ll need to present origina BL, vehicle’s title, passport, immigration form provided upon entering México. Paid $3,800 Mexican pesos. ($200) for agent fees. The rest of the port fees were paid at the port. Once all required documents have been submitted to your agent and shipping company by Beristain (Victor’s company) will do the revalidation of the BL at the port to proceed with the inspection of the container by Aduanas. We processed the TIP online so didn’t have to do that step on site.

Holloman Lake Campground

As the last person said. Great camping spot with an stunning sunset over the lake. No smells this time of the year.

Hacienda El Flamboyan (Cubuy)

Really great local restaurant next to the El Yunque National Park. Take a break from the warm weathers to a cool and crisp mountain air. Typical dishes and nice local atmosphere.

Everglades - Long Pine Key campground

Very nice campground. Clean restrooms and showers, flat ground to park, tables, fire/bbq pit, dishwashing station, $20 for small cars or tents. First come first served. There are a few short trails around the campground.

Flamingo campground

Nice campground. Clean restrooms and showers, flat ground to park, tables, fire/bbq pit, dishwashing station, $20 for small cars or tents. First come first served. There’re a few short trails near the campground. LOTS blood thirsty mosquitoes 🦟🦟🦟

Easterlin Park

Very expensive campground. Old-ish and run down facilities for the price. Very loud at night as the interstate and a train tracks run just meters from the campground. $45 per vehicle! 👎🏽

Markham Park Campground

Very nice campground inside the park. Water, firepits, tables, restrooms. Etc. $40 (high season) and $30 (low season) per day up to 4 people

Guayana Revenue Authority

Ask where the reception desk. There inform them you are a tourist and that you need to extend your vehicle permit. They will give you a badge and instruct you to go to the second floor. Look for the small corner cubicle at the end of the hallway on the left. They will assign a customs agent. Give them the TIP you got in Lethem, your vehicle’s title or registration and they will prepare a new TIP for you. I had to wait 30 minutes for the manager to arrive to get it signed.

Mijo Cafe

Good cafe in town with nice atmosphere. Good food, beers and music. Friendly owners. Perhaps the best spot in town for a night out and a good burger.

Campamento Serrania

Campamento Serrania Camping and Adventure. You’ll need to reserve camping or cabins in advance by sending a WhatsApp message to +58424025108 (Zanmy). This is your one stop for adventure! Canyoning, mountain biking, rafting, trekking, pendulum, etc. Amazing views of the Venezuelan Andes. Prices per person in USD: $15 camping, $20 for tent rentals and $25 for cabins. Prices include all meals super generous and tasty food! Big rigs fit but there’s a hanging bridge with a 5 ton max capacity.

Salto Kae

Salto Kae, a magnificent waterfall, deep in the Gran Sabana. The route here is a technical off-road route. Deep ruts, river crossings, 70+ degrees up and down hills. You will require winch, high clearance, traction boards and it’s highly recommended you do it with at least another vehicle. You’ll require to download GPS way points to be able to navigate and get to this place. Preferably do it with someone local who knows the area to be able to find the route. One of the most spectacular routes and places in Venezuela.

Cabañas Friedenau Hotel

Really nice compound with a variety of rooms available for small or larger groups. Also overlander friendly. Luis and Marielvis, the owners, can help you with information about the area and get you in touch with guides for Roraima treks. Good restaurant in the property. Recommended! 👍🏽 Prices vary depending on the type/size of room or accommodation.

Hostel Cacari

Best hostel in Boa Vista! Super friendly staff clean rooms breakfast included. 69 Reais per person in a dorm. Great location. Fernanda and Bira the owners will let you know what places to visit in the city and nearby.

Policia Federal (Immigration Brazil)

Policia Federal do Brazil. Stopped here to stamp out of Brazil before entering Venezuela. Fairly quick process. Then drove across the road to the Receita Federal building (Brazilian Customs) to cancel TIP.

Aduana (SENIAT) - Vehicle TIP

Once you get your entry stamp on your passport you need to come here and provide the aduanas agent (Antonio) with your vehicle’s title and passport. They will grant you a TIP for the same amount of days you were given on your passport. The process can be unnecessarily bureaucratic.

The Aduanas office works from Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM. Plan accordingly.

Receita Federal (Customs Brazil)

Exited Brazil. After stamping out of Brazil on my US passport I waited for the Receita Federal office to open at 3:00 PM. There was a line of Venezuelan trucks and vehicles that were issuing entry permits for Brazil. I only returned my TIP the customs’ agent check the info match cancelled the TIP and proceeded to drive to Venezuela.

Immigration Venezuela

The immigration office (SAIME) is a small white trailer to the left when driving from Brazil. Stamping into the country was easy did not have to wait long. Friendly officials.

Lago Do Robertinho

Really nice lake with restaurant, palapas and hammocks in the water. Super warm water. Great place to spend the day and cool off. Clean restrooms and showers. I forgot to ask but it would be a great spot to camp. Staff was friendly so it may be possible to spend the night if you ask them.

Palulu

Stopped here to check it out but there creek was almost without water. Nice big compound where you can camp. Gated and safe.

Crique Morpio- Free

Neat picnic / campground by the side of the toad next to a creek. Covered tables, leveled shaded spots. Great place to camp. Quiet at night. Free.

Reserve Naturelle Kaw Roura

We took a 5 hour boat ride along the Kaw river for €40 per person and stopped at the small village of Kaw for lunch (included with the price) and check the visitor center. We saw several different birds, capybaras and caiman.

Trailhead to Savane-Roche Virginie

Dirt parking lot net to the road under trees just a few meters from the trailhead to Inselberg Savane-Roche Virginie national reserve.

G-Detail Car Wash

Best car wash i’ve ever gotten during our whole trip! Not cheap but worth it after months without cleaning the cabin and engine bay. Also washed under carriage. Polished all for 120. You can get a basic service for less. Conveniently located next to a shopping center where you can go for a coffee while they wash your rig.

Porto Demetrio

We came here asking about boats to Santarem or Macapa. The port staff was most helpful and got us in touch with the right person to negotiate directly a boat to Santarem. You can also take a ferry boat from this port to Porto Velho which takes 4 days.

Porto do Careira to Manaus

35 reais per vehicle. Last boat was at 8:00 PM. About an hour ride to Manaus.

Porto da Ceasa

We arrived to this port in from the BR319. the last boat at night was at 8 PM for 35 Reais per vehicle.

Realidade - Posto São Vicente

We filled up here on our way to Manaus. It’s recommended you fill up in Humaita where it is cheaper and probably cleaner fuel and top off here again. This is the last proper gas station to refuel until Careiro. You also have the option to buy gas from small containers at Igapo Açu at a high price.

Gasoline from containers

We had to buy gasoline at the restaurant to make it to the next gas station in Careiro when driving from Humaita to Manaus. Expensive 6 reais per liter but better safe than sorry.
