folk use the lower area you have to drive past as a gun range. at the top you are fully protected from them. the only way you are at risk of getting shot is them firing straight up and it landing on you.

The view is incredible, starlink works perfectly but avoid using this spot unless you want to roll the dice and hope for no gunshots. We arrived sunday at 18h and it began shooting soon after. Standard shotgun, rifles and even machinegun! At least 300 rounds nonstop until 21h. We said well maybe just a sunday night strange activity... monday it will be quiet... beginning at 8 again... less crazy... only a couple of shots each 5 or 10 minutes... honestly it doesnt worth it

Go all the way to the top for the views! Have not heard any gun shots but as others have said there are casings everywhere :(

We are happy we chose this spot as we noticed a lot of truck logging traffic beginning early in the morning on the road over from us.
It was very quiet place to sleep for the night and easy to get to. We would definitely return here in the future. Lots of other spots to choose from.

Absolutely beautiful! Use satellite view to find the spot. Pretty easy road in my 2WD Sprinter. During the day there was a bit of noise from people shooting guns nearby. Didn’t love that.

Easily accessible in any 2WD vehicle all the way to the top. Enter the quarry, and take the dirt road on the right side. It winds all the way up. It’s a steep grade at times, but no ruts. Easily climbed it with our 2WD van that weighs over 9,000 lbs.

Amazing view elevated above the surrounding woods!

Nice view. I would not recommend as this is no doubt a gun range... and by our position we were down range twice and uphill from high powered semi automatic rifle fire... Very dangerous predicament. Breakfast ruined at 0700 by the pleasant sound of zipping/ popping ricochets over our heads. (Who shoots at 0700!?) Trash everywhere.

Beautiful spot. Couple fire spots.there are bullets everywhere and they were shooting guns all the way until dark.
Most likely need 4x4 if not summer, it was steep and icey but made it in my truck camper.

Cool spot with great views. I got up there easily with my 2WD Sprinter 170. There’s a couple flat spots that fit my rig but wouldn’t fit much bigger (23’). 2-3 bars of Verizon cell service. There were bullet casings, as this is atop a volcanic rock “gravel” pit, so people use it for shooting. I would sleep here again!

This place has beautiful views all around. We came for the 4th and could see fireworks in bend (barely) and south in La Pine. Unfortunately it is perched on top of a gravel pit where people come to shoot. Safe enough, but the noise is pretty loud during the day. Quiet at night and peaceful. Can get a bit breezy on top but not bad when we were here. There is some trash around and we filled a bag, but mostly just shotgun shells. Watch out for nails on the road also, there is a big pile where someone must have burned old wood.

Truly stunning! Our thoughts echo that of the original post regarding the shot gun shells littered throughout. You have to go through the quarry to get here but it’s so worth it! 360 degree views and amazing sunsets!

Pretty overlook with some level spots atop of a small butte next to a pit. You'll have some neat 360° vistas. The only drawback is the rubbish left behind by what looks like to be some gun folk. There were lots of bullet casings lying about. It was perfectly calm when we were there though.
