A very friendly Military guy stopped us and was asking where we want to go ,where we from and if we like Mexico-Si..Mexico is muy bonito! There was also a big Federal Police control +/-5km before on the other site/lane from Calakmul to Chetumal - they didn't stopped us on our way to Calakmul.
Report Check-InThis checkpoint has some friendly officers. BUT 5-10 kilometers down the road going west there’s another checkpoint. There was a police car parked and three guys wearing police apparel. A young guy approached the vehicle and started checking every single paper we had and took a tour of the van. He said he’d write me a ticket or I could give him money. His reason was because I don’t have my Mexican insurance printed, although I asked many police officer on my way into Mexico about it and no one said that I needed it. Anyways, I showed him it on my phone and he was still asking for money. I ended up giving him 100 pesos and he got a grin on his face and let us through. It was the first time we got bribed in Mexico. Oh well, part of the adventure I guess.
