One of our favourites. Fernando is a gem; such a welcoming and friendly chap! Loo and shower on flat area with stunning views. Use of washing machine greatly appreciated. Turn-in is a bit steep; if you’re coming from Juntas it’s easy to miss so go up to restaurant just above the site and turn round. Stayed for two nights. Could have happily stayed for much longer.

WOWWOWWOW!

This place is amazing! The views and the sunsets are just stunning, the bathrooms are clean (cold showers & a flushing everything down toilet :D, where the owner is very proud of XD ) and the hosts are soooo lovely!

We stayed a whole week and every day they brought us something special like fresh made tacos, self pressed caña limonade, a chocolate bar and much more.

The temperatures are also not tooo hot, which we really enjoyed after the coast.

7.000 Colones per night for two people in a van, so a very very fair price for a costa-rican camping.

They would like to sell their place, because they are getting older :(

But as long as they are there: Don‘t miss this and enjoy!!!

The nicest owners ever. Even after we destroyed the whole driveway because of the heavy rainfalls they were incredibly friendly! Thank you!

Adding to the already great comments:

This was one of our favorite spots in Costa Rica so far! Fernando and Vera are so incredibly kind and full of positive energy. We were planning on staying 2 nights and stayed for 5 (we only left because we ran out of food).

They let us do laundry and shared some coffee and sugarcane juice with us. Talking with them and sharing stories was the highlight of our stay. They quickly became friends!

Their property is filled with some of the best viewpoints we’ve seen yet. Best way to start your day with a morning coffee! Can plug in to charge your batteries if you need it. Good solar. Potable water with hose hookups. Shaded kitchen area with good wifi. Fernando was constantly cleaning the bathrooms. You can tell he is super organized! Honestly the perfect spot to recharge and get some work done.

Mango trees, carambola, sugarcane… this place is amazing. And it’s FOR SALE! The best part of purchasing this property would be to have Fernando and Vera as neighbors.

Also: VERY dog friendly. Our dog had a blast playing with Canela and Tony 🐶 We will probably backtrack just to spend some more nights here again 🙃

¡Muchas gracias por todo, amigos!

Best place we camped so far in Costa Rica! Fernando and Vera are lovely and extremely welcoming, they are honest and humble people, taking good care of their property. We stopped here as we were pedaling the hill to go to Arenal, and we're instantly charmed by this beautiful little paradise. We recommend this place 100%.

STUNNING! One of the best! 7000 per car per night. There are a few different areas, so check them all out before picking one, the back right one has the best views. Free washing machine!!! Also a hose for a car wash/rinse the salt water off. Potable water. Fernando is a pretty funny guy too! His Google translate skills are on the ball! Don’t skip this one!

WOW!! What a place with one of the most impressive views that we had in
Costa Rica! Highly recommended

Report Check-In

This place is absolutely wonderful and stunning 🤩 The view is amazing and the owners are so so kind and helpful. There is good water, WiFi, electricity and a lukewarm shower. They helped us with cooking frijoles and even got us some as ours had to cook for the night, which they also did for us as we only had camping gear. They are too kind and the property is really nice! There is more then enough space for several cars and they also have cabañas. Only thing to note is that is does get windy in the dry season so be prepared 🌱

Report Check-In

We loved this place. We were welcomed with coffee and big smiles and even though we don‘t speak spanish we made it work with google tanslator. It is quiet at night, the view is amazing, the shower/toilette clean and next to the camping area. The viewpoint behind their house is absolutley nice. We spend 2 nights with our 4x4 with a rooftop tent and would go there again! Highly recommend staying there.

Report Check-In

Amazing hosts at a wonderful place. Monteverde is a 40 minute drive away along freshly paved roads, so perfect base for day trip for tours. We only wanted to stay 1 night on our way there, but decided to stay 2.
Clean showers and toilets around the site. kitchen facilities, including fridge freezer, microwave, bbq etc. Power for charging in kitchen, and some other places.
Amazing views with great sunset.
Fernando & Vera speak no English but get by with Google translate on phone.
we could not go to see Fernando without him feeding us, and making coffee, all compliments complimentary.
It can get a bit windy, so tie down awnings and fold up camp chairs at night. I was chasing our washing and chairs, and packing away our awning at 1am on the first night!
A truly wonderful stay.

Report Check-In

This is such a quiet oasis! Beautiful places to park with shower and toilet (3 different ones). Some with electricity.. the owners are real Ticos and are incredibly accommodating. They have a couple of cows (so fresh milk and cheese available), a horse (for horse rides) and chickens, cat and dog.. they also have 2 cabins for rent. Beautiful views over the bay of Nicoya and daily sunsets.. Very private if you want.

Sorry that last entry is for wrong location!

Beautiful spot. Lots of shade. Right on beach. Very quiet at night. Monkeys around .. to go to this beach, keep left on dirt road where there is a black sign ‘flamingo towers view point’.. very recommended!!

WoW Fernando and Vera were the nicest hosts (Spanish speaking) we have met during our stay in Costa Rica. This was our first day with our Jeep with tent, the views at their place and sunset are spectacular! Fernando is Very funny and warm Hearted, he did everything to make our stay wonderful, made us coffee, we got a tour around his beautiful property, ... showers, laundry machine, drinking water, bbq, electricity and toilets available and all this for only 10$ per vehicle. We were sorry we could only stay for 1 night. They also rent out a cabana and there is a lot of room for campers or jeeps. If you want to meet the real locals of Costa Rica, go here!

Report Check-In

What an amazing place to relax and enjoy the montverde area. Close to numerous hikes and a number of water falls and rivers. This place has an amazing view of the nicoya gulf and some of the best sunsets in all of Costa Rica. Fernando and Vera are wonderful and gracious hosts who are willing to help you find whatever you are looking for, and are always waiting with fresh coffee.

Report Check-In

Excellent place with an amazing view!! Watching a sunset here is the best of the best!!

Report Check-In

Amazing place to stop for one night or three. Fernando and his wife are gracious hosts. The camping area has an incredible view, and there is a bathroom and potable water right there. Not much shade, just one tree but it's worth it this time of year for the views, the birds, and the cool night mountain air. Hard to leave!

Report Check-In

This place is a gem and a total must see!
All the positive reviews below are spot on. The owners are so kind, you are so welcome, the view is so nice, the facilities are so clean and there is so much and nice free coffee. So, you must visit this place. It’s fantastic! (And just for 6k in total for two people)

Report Check-In

This place is just perfect. We stayed another night, just to enjoy the place, the view, the hospitality of Fernando and his wife. When we checken in, they just installed a laundrymachine for guests to use. Fernando even relocated our laundry (which was drying) when we went for a hike and it started to rain. When in the neighbourhood, make a stop here. You wont regret!

Report Check-In

This place is absolutely amazing. Insane view from the secluded camping area as well as the little viewing deck. Clean toilets, showers, wifi, fill water tank, unlimited free coffee. The owners are also unbelievably kind. They gave us some aguacates from their farm when we arrived and in the morning brought us some breakfast tacos. Just such kind people. 6000 per rig, road here is paved from Juntas, a little steep but big rig friendly (maybe max 30 feet length). One of our favorite stops by far. So great!

Report Check-In

Impossible to describe! Fernando and his wife are amazing people. They will treat you like family. The place is beautiful and clean. The views are wonderful. Absolutely no negative point!

Camping for million, very nice silent place, 10usd per car.

Best place we’ve been so far in Costa Rica! Beautiful view, very clean and new bathroom and very nice owners! They asked 6000 colones, which is cheap compared to other places we’ve seen so far. Highly recommended!

Fernando and Vera are such a sweet couple! We spend one night there, playing with their animals (dog, cat, bird). You have to make at least a stop there to enjoy the view and if you can the beautiful sun set.

Very beautiful place, the owners are truly welcoming and friendly! Nothing bad to say about. We just were irritated when the lady asked for 10’000Colones. Asked her if this is a fix new price and she answered with yes...

Amazing place. Incredible views. Don Fernando and Doña Vera are too nice. This is a small farm. Chicken, small dog, tucanes, cows and many other birds. We milked cows and they gave us truly organic cheese and milk from the farm. Internet is ok. Acces is good. We made it woth a big truck camper. Nice bathroom and shower. Seriusly highly recommended. We stayed 4 night.

This is our second stay. We enjoyed it so much that we are back and this time with our parents (who are visiting from the States). We are camping and rented a cabana for our parents. Everything mentioned below is accurate. Wonderful people and spot.

Report Check-In

You have to camp here, or at least visit for the view. They are the nicest most sweetest couple. From the moment we walked in, Fernando and Vera welcomed us as we were old friends. Brought out coffee and snacks as we watched the incoming storm roll over the mountains to the Pacific Ocean.

We stopped here before heading to Monteverde as they were repairing the road on the 606. Ended up staying 2 nights and then stayed another night on our way back down. That’s how much we loved it here. Saw so many birds here, played with their cows, and their dog Leica! They let us use the kitchen and showers(cold). WiFi was hit or miss but would work by the lower cabin. Big rigs fit too. $5000 colones / night:

Report Check-In

Gates were locked-up on a Sunday afternoon. Some bewildered looking caretaker guy stared at us through the fence. Despite all the tourist signs on the outside, he didn't seem to understand why we might be asking to come in. We drove on to the wild-camp spot marked a few hundred metres further up the hill.

Report Check-In

Thanks to Fernando and his wife. We had a wonderful day and night at their spot. We had fun with their animals and enjoyed the beautiful view. Mozart and his team

Report Check-In

There are not enough good things we can say about Fernando and his wife Vera. We showed up looking to camp in our hammock, but they insisted we take a cabin due to the coming thunder showers. (At a discounted rate) The view from our cabin porch was unreal, and we had a fully stocked kitchen. During our stay we had a small accident on our motorcycle, and they let us stay longer (for free) so we could make the repairs to the bike. They helped out and let us use tools and the pressure washer. Even if you are not staying here I suggest you stop in and take in the view from the lookout deck. They have bathrooms and wifi to use. There’s a donation box that is in the parking lot for use of the lookout or bathrooms. If you don’t stop here your missing out!

We stayed two nights, had a oil leak of automatic gearbox(real steep for our 25’ RV to reach the place).Fernando was very helpful and called a mechanic on Easter Sunday the next day. He and his wife was absolutely loving people, generosity is something that we should learn from them. How people can be so nice!

Electricity on site, portable water, clean WC, mesmerizing view and sunset, WiFi near the view point.

He was charging us only 10$(may be coz he felt pity that we had to pay the mechanic) but we insisted and paid 20$ for 2 nights.

Highly recommend!!!

We agree with any positive review so far. Owners supplied a brand new electric fry pan, when we asked to use the kitchen. So kind these people!
Wifi only available at the view point (balcony).

Loved this campground!!! Super friendly owners who made us free breakfast. They are really sweet. The view is absolutely amazing, especially at sunset. We could park our car besides the private, really clean bathroom (cold shower and really clean toilet) and a sink for washing clothes or dishes. They also let us wash our car. Paid 5000 per night. They also have beautiful cabins with amazing views for 30 usd. There is WiFi which works average. Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

Great spot, great hospitality, great view with sunset. It was strong winds the whole night long and this is probably often here because it’s on a mountain crest. So think about if you sleep in a roof tent. There’re two nice casitas, but both were already booked. It’s high season right now.

Report Check-In

Very, very beautiful place, absolutely lovely owners. They warned us there will be wind, there was a storm, so if they tell you that just be prepared. They brought us dessert in the evening and gallo pinto in the morning and there is free coffee all day. payed 5000 C. Recommended.

Report Check-In

Fernando and his wife are so sweet! we highly recommand to stay there. We stayed in the cabin and loved it! Fernando took care of us like we were family. As bird watchers, we saw lots of different birds. Awesome place!

We can confirm what the previous said : really nice place with an amazing view. Paid 4000C per night for 2 people in a van.

**can the next campers please get their address, I’d love to send them a card, thank you**

Good place to camp. Owned by Fernando and his wife, who are very nice, helpful and happy. Even though they don’t speak a word English we could understand each other.
They asked if we had a towel for the shower and they lend us sugar for our pancakes. Eventually they proclaimed themselves as our adoptive parents haha. They’re the biggest sweethearts!

Now some camping info:
Not a complete flat area to camp but good enough. You may have some cows waking you the next morning.

They asked $10/C5000 for one night, so prices went up.
The campsite is simple but the view point they have is out of this world! Haven’t seen such a amazing view in a long time. It’s unreal. Highly recommend!!

Report Check-In

Place looked great as we peered through the locked gate. No one around July 9, 2017. Too bad. Just off season I assume but can't confirm. We went to camping restaurant Turin, about 30 minutes closer to Monteverde. It was wonderful.

Report Check-In

Really great place ! We stop on our way to Monteverde, coming from nicoya and we enjoyed a fresh night (yeah !!). In the morning we had liters of coffee before leaving. The owners are very kind and the view of the mountains gorgeous ! 4000 colones for 2 for 1 night.

Report Check-In

Absolutely stunning, if your a bike tourer hitch a lift or hand your luggage over to somebody else. It's 2.5 hours up from the main road on a fully loaded bike.
The view at the top and hospitality is definitely worth it. There's even a nice sheltered spot to pitch your tent.

Report Check-In

Amazing place, super friendly hosts, quiet with shower and bathrooms. Breathtaking views of the valley up until the peninsula. 4000 colones for camping & 27 usd for a little cabin with bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. Free coffee. They even served breakfast for free. Must stop on your way to Monte Verde or Volcan Arenal. They told us they will build 2 more cabins in the future.

Report Check-In

Everything everybody else is saying. People are really friendly and we got more coffee than we could drink. It's basic and simple cabin and camping but really nice. And cool tp watch the sunset. 150000colones and 4000colones for camping

Report Check-In

Nice little place with a beautiful view of the mountains and the pacific ocean. The owner is kind and friendly, we have been charged 4000 colones for 2 adults, 2 childrens and our 26 feet motorhome. There is electricity, bathroom and shower.
Near the road so don't expect to sleep late in the morning but during the night it was really quiet. The road to come here from Monteverde was a nightmare for the type of vehicle that we have!!! Gravel road, narrow and steep.

Report Check-In

Met Fernando & Pablo who were both friendly & accommodating. Very clean & tranquil property. Met a baby calf that was born 14 days ago. :) STUNNING view from patio with chairs. Clean bathrooms with showers & large sink for dishes.

Report Check-In

The owner of this place (and his wife) is just about the nicest person I've met along the whole panam. He charged us $20 for the cabin, served us coffee night and day, delivered fresh milk in the morning with hot tortillas. Just awesome. They have showers and toilets now. 10/10

Report Check-In

Loved our stay at this place. Beautiful people. Good facilities - bathroom, shower, cleaning basin, electricity and free coffee in hang out room! Amazing view from look out over rolling hills, jungle and out to ocean. Highly recommend. Paid $10 usd for two without electricity.

Report Check-In

It's as everyone else says: a beautiful spot and friendly welcoming family (Fernando & Vera). $8 to camp. They are installing a shower and will have it completed next week, along with a washing sink. Very clean bathroom and nice temperatures here. The road to/from Monteverde is rough - steep & unpaved. GPS shows this as 5km away but it took us 1 hour (admittedly our Westy is slow.)

Report Check-In

Very very nice place. Beautiful view on peninsula. Hummingbird just near you. Owners very pleasant.
8$ for rv or one room with shower at 30$

Super friendly couple that runs the lookout and allows people to stay in their vehicles. Also has a small 1bdrm house that they will rent out that sleeps 3. Clean bathrooms, no showers but they may allow you to use the house's shower. Awesome view of the surrounding area and the Pacific Ocean.

Report Check-In

Nice spot to camp with clean bathrooms. No showers but if the cabin is empty you can use that one. We just stopped to eat as our vw cooled down. They said they usually have campers here. They ask for a TIP to camp and the cabin is 30 usd. Nice view of the Pacific Ocean from the property and some trails to walk. Cool temperature compared to Nicoya Peninsula. Very nice couple owns the place.
