Description

Nigerian High Comission in Freetown. We asked to apply for a tourist visa and were surprisingly allowed to apply without residence permit. The only catch was that it would cost 210$ per person plus an additional fee of 500 000 SLL and it would take 10 working days. We did not have time to wait that long and decided to try in another country down the road instead. No letter of invitation needed. (Swedish passport)

Tried to get a visa here, they would only issue me a transit visa, good for 7 days from the date of issue. I was told they didn’t issue tourist visas to overlanders anymore, only with a flight ticket, but the consulate said I might have issues crossing over a lane border with a l visa issues for a flight ticket. They said to try in Conotou.

The guy who is in charge of the consular services did not seem efficient. And the guy that take the passport, his name is Bolaji. In the interview was so agressive with me and they don't want to give visas to overlanders. They refused my visa even I had invitation letter, 2 hotel bookings, evidence of funds, etc and I had a meeting before with the High Commissioner because I know the honour consul of Serbia here in Freetown... So even that I was refused... Don't apply if if you are not completely sure. And the fee is non refundable. 110USD for Spanish passport.

You get the visa here. Just make sure you are not such a big idiot like I’m one. I told them that I wanna go by next month, prepeared everything. They issued me the visa for 178 USD, I had to find a bank to transfer it. No cash possible. Regular visa is 3 months valid for a stay of one month. As I stupidly told them that I wanna go next month they just gave me one month of valid time. If I would have told them I wanna go by May I would have got the regular 3 months one. Now I lost all my money as I will noch be able to travel to Nigeria within one month. The didn’t argue with me.
I brought 2 pictures, the filled application form, fake booking confirmation for flight there and back plus fake hotel booking. A invitation letter definately helps. Make sure you don’t forget anything, they are super nasty and unfriendly. I got the visa after 3 interviews with 4 hours waiting each, as I haven’t had the in flight on the frist time.

It's been a bit of a rollercoaster. I came on Monday, got quoted $100 (Polish passport) paid in FBN bank (only new dollars accepted, i.e. with security strip) and 500k leones in cash in the embassy. The final receipt stated only the $100. The price depends on the nationality, there were two Germans with me and they got quoted $175 each. A Lebanese got a price of $148. All need to bring the 500k. The Germans were told 7 working days is minimum time for processing, normal time 2 weeks. The Lebanese tried negotiating and he was told Friday as a collection day. I was told the same if I submit Tuesday before noon. The list of requirements lists 2 photos, invitation to Nigeria, residence permit, flight bookings & application form. I said immediately I am not a resident & they still allowed me to apply. I managed to arrange invitation, it's simple if you know someome, has to be typed, signed and accompanied by inviter's passport photocopy. I was told there would be interview on Thursday noon. On Thursday noon I was told the interview would have to be moved till Friday. On Friday the interview was very friendly and lasted maybe 10mins and I was told I could only pick passport on Monday and even that is an exception. I asked for Friday pick up and the answer was firm 'no'. Then as I was leaving they receptionist asked me to wait and after maybe half hour I got passport with the visa, single entry, 3 months valid.

Our group was allowed to apply and recieved their visas the next day. We didn't say we were overlanding though and instead had various fake flight and hotel bookings. There was an 500.000 Le administration fee in addition the visa cost. The visa cost depends on your nationality.

Nigeria visa can be obtained from Freetown embassy if you have a flight into and out of Nigeria, 1 hotel booking, 2 passport photos, 500,000 leonis and payment for your nationality in usd at the FBN bank. Processed same day, but may take up to 2 days. Same goes for Conakry, just make sure not to mention you are overlanding.
