They declined to issue a visa in my passport, saying that the eVisa will get me across land borders.
Report Check-Inédit : overlanders travelers were at calabar and they didn't want to give them a visa because overlanding is " too dangerous". But 2 days before they gave for free a visa to à backpacker traveler... So for these overlanders, Calabar called Lagos and after that they accepted to do a visa but asked 10 000 FCFA per person or 15 000 nairas.... We, we did it for free at Abuja embassy, easy and fast (need an appointement) but it's a lot of kms and in Abudja we didn't find a place to stay in our car, have to take a room. So if the informatic system is working at Lagos, better to take it here and pay, I think.
Report Check-InWe were here and try to discus the "consulate fees" they asked us : 20 000 nairas per passeport (around 23€/passeport) for a evisa that you alreday payed 167€ (but they told us that i nothing for european People....). We stayed few hours and impossible to negociate. You pay or you leave. I told them that it's free in Calabar or Abuja, the vice-consul said that's impossible. I told him that the same day a traveler were at the consulate of Calabar and had it for free. He told me each consulate has his own law, go to Calabar or Abuja or do it here and pay. They gave us an invoice. But finaly the informatic system didn't work, also the day after and the day after so they gave us our money Black (we needed to insist and came Black 3 times because the guy who collected the money was Never here looool). So we left Lagos with no visa in our passeport.
Report Check-Incan confirm sticker in Abuja is free and seems to be the same in Calabar.
Report Check-InThe visa now is online, but to cross to Cameroon by land you need the visa sticker in your passport. So after get the visa go to the embassy with the photocopy of the visa approval and they visa payment receipt.
You have to pay 20000 nairas to get it. Unfriendly people. I guess this payment is not official and it go to the pocket of the embassy staff, but they would refuse to do it if you don't pay.
Totally disappointing after pay 250 € for the e-visa.
Maybe it's free in Calabar or Abuja, I don't know.

Until 1st July 2023, you need the relevant Cameroon consulate to put the actual visa sticker in your passport to enter Cameroon at Idenao and possibly other land and sea borders. The evisa itself is not sufficient. Without it, you will be deported back to Nigeria.

Easy process but the rules changed in 2023 ! Its 240 dollars for the 3 months Visa "multiples entry" ONLY. You can NOT pay with Naira anymore. Only US dollars, euro or West African CFA (XOF). If you bring CFA from Benin, it would be about a 146k fee.

- copy of passeport
- fill up a easy form
The guy at the reception is super friendly, he even complained with us that the fees were getting way too expansive and that was not good for tourism in Cameroon... Took us 3 hours to get ours Visa.
They now only issue the 3 month tourist visa for $240 per person. We pushed to try and get the 100000CFA price as below but this is now not possible. We were told there was a new directive from Yaounde to only issue 3 months for $240 and he showed us an official looking letter… arrived at 9am, visa at 2pm. There is an online system coming, but it didn’t work so he had to do manually. The visa stamp says 100000CFA. We questioned where the remainder goes to and were told it goes to the Ministry of External Affairs. He was happy to give us a receipt for the full amount.
Report Check-InArrived at 10. 00 in the morning and get our visa at 12.00. The consul must be here.
Price it's 100 000 CFA XOF or 160 euros. They do not take CFA XAF.

Report Check-InThe price of the visa is 100'000CFA, if you pay in dollars or Naira will cost you more, example 240$ or 134'000 Naira.
if you ask you will be issued the receipt.
The visa is issued to you after 15 minutes having completed the form.
if you have a visa ready for the next country, the thing helps a lot for the issuance of the visa, for example Rep. of Congo for me.
The embassy opens at 10:00 and closes at 15:00.
On the visa you will be issued the price will be 50'000cfa, but the other 50'000 are other fees. Also on the website of the Cameroon embassy in Lagos there is written the price of 100'000cfa.
Report Check-InVisa is possible. You need 2 passport photos, fill a form and a copy of your passport.
The price is very high. 240 dollar pp or 136.000 naira. 3 month multiple entry is the cheapest and smallest one. German passport. You can wait there.
Note: for one month visa, the cost is actually only 50,000 cfa, which is 31,000 naira. That’s the price they write on your visa but insist on charging 45,000 naira for it. I only got to know it at the end when they gave me the visa, but for future applications, you can demand a receipt at the beginning.

Got the visa here today. $120 USD. Applied at 10:00, picked it up at 14:00. I told them I would cross at Gembu, and had a map to show my potential route. it was all relatively easy.
Report Check-InWe also got a visa Here, but it was a hard discussion. We payed 120 $ and after 1 hour discussing and waiting the chief prepared it directly.
It is open from 9:30-15:00 but we had to wait til 10:15 when the chief arrived.
We are not sure, if he will exhibit visa anymore, cause he told us, that it is not possible to go by land to cameroon for at least 10 times.
If you try to apply here, you should tell him, that you know other travelers, who did the way from gembu to banyo already without problems.
We like something to add: To stay overnight in this area, there is a Radisson Blue Hotel and directly in the neighborhood, there is a apartment- and office Building with the same security , we ask there and they lat us stay for the night for 5000 CFA behind the gate.
