Incredible place to rest after crossing Ethiopia. A wonderful spot and Kim was a great host. Cold shower, water available and you can ask for every thing to Kim, she manage to help you (wifi, cigarette, bread, eggs..)

The only place in Ethiopia you can find peaceful and serenity.

Report Check-In

Beautifull and tranquil place. A relief after 2 month desert. Wanted to stay 2 days but left after 8. Kim is a perfect host. Still around 5$ pppn.

Report Check-In

absolute gem, the only place I found peace and privacy, was hard to leave, everything perfect, Kim is a great host, 100% worth the detour

Report Check-In

Beautiful and peaceful with very clean ablutions. No WiFi.

Report Check-In

As mentioned Kim is running the place again. She, her husband and the staff are great hosts. The place is wonderful - like paradise.
Perfect place to relax after or before border crossing. The food is also very delicious.
We staid for 6 nights and can fully recommend this place.

Report Check-In

This place is not allowing guests since they are in the process of changing owners.

Report Check-In

Very nice place indeed. Only the last 1km is dirt road, rest is tarmac.

Report Check-In

Excellent place to recharge your batteries after crossing Sudan. Beers n food a little pricey, so spoil yourself, just chill out. Kim knows everything about Africa, she seems to be a tough kid, but really she's a sweetie pie!

Report Check-In

This is a quiet oasis inbetween crowded ethiopian life. Kim makes a perfect job since eleven years. You will enjoy european toilet standard, swimming in the lake was great and you can buy fresh Tilapia from the local fishermen.
And if you think beer and food at the nice restaurant is too expensive for you - don't forget where you are and what a perfect place to relax they offer to you!

Report Check-In

Excellent place to relax for a few days. Camping is 95 birr ppn. There are also two tiers of cabins, check pricing on the website. The water in the lake is quite milky but don’t let that put you off from taking a swim!

There’s no WiFi and only spotty cell reception.

Be aware that some items on the menu is quite expensive, ask before ordering.

Place might be closing soon, so check the website before driving here.

Report Check-In

we can definitely recommend this place for camping here. it is still 95 Birr per person for camping and the place is very nice. very clean toilets.

eating here is a different story: dinner at 170 pp is overpriced for what you get. eggs and bread is now 7 Birr.

We did not have a more expensive beer in Ethiopia (35 Birr) and I can not recall having a more expensive cup of tea since leaving ZA (34 Birr).

When we asked to get hot water filled into a 400ml thermos with one bag of tea in it, because one of us was sick and took it into our tent, we got charged for two cups of tea for that (68 Birr).

As said before, we highly recommend staying here but bring your own supplies as everything is way, way overpriced.

Report Check-In

We spent 5 days here and loved it. We swam in the lake and it was really great, although we found out afterwards that there are hippos in the lake?! A very peaceful place with excellent food and service.

Report Check-In

Green spot at a brown lake. We don’t want to swim in it. The places where you can stay is under a tree. There are a lot of birds and vigs in it. It gives a lot of dirty spots on your tent. You can ask if you can stand elsewhere.
A room cost 850 bir and to camp it cost 95 bir p.p. Unfortunately there is no Wi-Fi and the showers are very very cold, except if you take a room there a nice warm showers.

Report Check-In

Good place for relaxing some days. We took the road from Gonder which is completely tarred, only the last meters to the village is a really narrow and bad road. The camp is really clean and we paid 95 Birr pppn and slept in our rooftent. Very quiet and relaxed atmosphere. You can buy bread and eggs in the morning for 5 Birr each.
Like mentioned before the dinner is about 125 Birr pp. and you will get a menu.
Nice place to stay and relax some days, it’s also possible to go swimming but we didn’t.
By the way: there is no WiFi!

Report Check-In

Nice location although the swimming isn't great, the water is a little cloudy and entrance rocky, though Kim will lend you water shoes. Camping is great value at 95Birr pppn but as mentioned food and all other services are expensive. Dinner is a set menu at 125Birr pp, breakfast starts at 50Birr for a big egg sandwich and lunch starting at 40Birr for soup. The local village has very limited supplies, onions, peppers, tomatoes etc as well as water as usual and a few other essentials. Meals and coffee can be purchased in town too. Kim will put the hot spot on from her phone fir internet and charge for the used credit which adds up pretty quickly. Showers are clean and cool. There is a good selection of books, boardgames and cards to play while enjoying some very overpriced coffee at 36Birr for a mug, or the more reasonably priced soft drinks or local gin. Washing is 75Birr per kg. Dogs are welcome but Kim has 2 very lovely but territorial dogs of her own who do not get on too well with others, she will put them away on request to give your dog's some freedom.

lovely place to relax a few days. Very clean ablutions, probably the cleanest in Africa. The road tot Gorgora is now totaly tarred. No wifi however there is a good signal from Ethio Telecom. We paid 95 Birr pppn.

Report Check-In

We paid 95 Birr for each tent per night. And they have the best and cleanest toilets and showers we have seen in all Africa so far! Food and the beer is very expensive though. Also the last kilometers are really bad roads as they are currently building a new asphalt road but seems to take a while until it's finished.

Report Check-In

Lovely peaceful location. Food is quite expensive but you are really in the middle of nowhere! If coming from Sudan border do not take first right turn off main Gonder road as it is 70km of very bad road, go further towards Gonder and take new tarred road. The road to the site from the village is rough and ready for bikers too if it's been raining

Report Check-In

Fantastic place to relax and enjoy the beautiful landscape, the garden, the many birds, Kim's excellent cooking, friendly staff, very clean sanitary and relaxed atmosphere.
Camping is 95birr. Rooms cost more but offer warm showers. Meals and drinks are a bit pricey but as all proceeds go to charity and the food is really good, it is worth it. Make sure to take the road from Azezo, which is mostly tarmac.

Report Check-In

Really peaceful place for rest with lovely owner. You can camp or use lodge as you prefer. It's also an amazing spot for birdwatching, we got 34 different species in one day and 10 new other the day after in garden as well as beside Tana Lake.

Report Check-In

Beautifull place to stay! Very relaxed atmosphere. After the heat of Sudan and Egypt this is a nice place to chill out and get new energy! Kim does an great job at her village and in Gorgora. Its a great experience to go on a cano trip with Mebratu on lake Tana.
The food is really good and the staff friendly! We had an amazing stay!

Report Check-In

See previous comments. Road is now mostly tar apart from last 20km. We paid 95Birr pppn.

Report Check-In

Awesome place- we payed 85B pp to camp in a good spot under a huge tree with a view of the lake. The food is delicious and the beer is cold. The bathrooms are clean, neat and well kept but a haven for mozzies, so bring the repellant, they get bad at night. Great common area to chill out during the day. They have a lot of options for accommodation as well if you don't want to camp. When we rode in the road was not bad at all, and they are also busy building a big tar road into the town nearby. No internet though, but there is patchy reception.

Report Check-In

Super place. Camping managed by a Dutch couple.Sloping terrain at Tana Lake. Clean and well managed. Almost every overlander in the neighborhood goes here.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot, perfect for relaxing and Kim serves up some good food. Although the roads in and out are in poor condition with lots of sharp stones – run your tyres slightly lower! (300 Birr a night/camping)
