Description

Very relaxed border.
Took max 1 minute to be stamped out of Benin (they didn’t even register the car out).

Nigeria issued a laissez-passer for 28 days at no cost. They even offered us a bottle of non alcoholic sparkly wine!
Immigration stamped us in with visa for 15 days at request.
Health services checked for yellow fever and said meningitis was highly recommended and wanted to charge 2000 each to give us the vaccination stamp. We refused, they didn’t insist.
Security registered our passport info.

Since Marocco probably the easiest border!!

I tried to cross into Nigeria here yesterday and what people say about no problems does not appear to be true. I do not have CDP and they started asking for bond money to let me in with my car and then saying if I don’t come back to the same border to collect it I’ll lose it - which is not possible when I’m heading to South Africa obviously. It was a corrupt experience! It was going dark and this was the last thing I needed and was also my second border I’d tried to get into Nigeria. Don’t come here with no CDP bottom line. I eventually got into Nigeria at the very bottom border by the sea the staff were wonderful to the extent I was overwhelmed by their kindness.

Easy border crossing. Going to Ningeria: 28 days TIP no money asked.
After they stamp you your passport in Benin side you just cross the barrer.. 10m and:
1. 50meters left side yellow house immigration for stamp your passport (gave us 30days tourist visa made in Burkina)
2. Go back walking to the first shack on the left after the barrier and register the vehicle. Stamp your carnet or make free TIP 28days.
3. Cross the street “health service” to show the yellow fever certificate if the ask you to go..
4. With the car 300m stop at police on the left and they will just register you.
Not need to pay nothing all very friendly and guide you all the time.

Extremely easy. Definitely worth the slight detour. The customs lady said she didn't have any Tip's so she stamped the back of my insurance. Everything else was really simple. The best bit was the checkpoints after we're so relaxed. They mostly just ignored me. A couple wanted a chat but nothing more than that.
