Nice place. Clean rooms, secure parking. Good food & cold beer at restaurant. I paid 3500 mtc for a chalet.
Make sure to meet Willie for a chat - he’s an awesome adventurer.

Report Check-In

We had a little stopover while on the way to Chimoio. Nice place, but a little expensive (two Sandwiches, two Cokes and two Coffee for 1000 MT). But very pleasant staff.

Report Check-In

they asked me 20 usd to camping
no abolutions, toilet 50 m and no shower.
too much to camp in a parking.
didn't stay.
there is a lot of places to wildcamp arround ( before is better then after, going south)

i drove 1 h and found a good place.

Report Check-In

15$ ppn to sleep in a parking is too much. They open a room for shower. Good restaurant et small pool. It’s the only option in the N1 in this area, but you can do wildcamping for sure around, no villages

Report Check-In

Enjoyed our stay at Buffalo. Food was great with hot (!) home made piri-piri. Rooms are good, swimming pool clean, beers cold and the owner knows all the roads to give you good advice.

Camping is possible, but we treated ourselves to very comfy beds for the night.

Report Check-In

Spent a peaceful night as the only campers. Camping ablutions under renovations so they opened a cottage for us to use. Staff very welcoming everything spotlessly clean. 1,350 met for two people and a vehicle for the night. Wifi just strong enough to check and send messages and emails. Did not use restaurant. Seems like the best option for many miles along the N1.

Report Check-In

The new price is 15 USD per person, rather steep for what you get, but friendly manager and staff.

Report Check-In

This is an oasis at the shores of the N1 "road" desaster. The Buffalo Lodge has a lovely garden and super pool. We had cold drinks/coffee in this lovely place around 10 a.m. So it was too early for us to stay overnight. We think that it is a good choice to camp here if you happen to arrive later than us as the N1 pothole avenue is BAD BAD 70km northern to the Save river, after this 70km still BAD up to the junction with R520 (to Dombe). It took us 8.5 hours driving time from Inhassoro to Dombe.

Report Check-In

Very nice facility with a kitchen, pool, camping, rooms, and a large open area for eating, hanging out, or drinking at the bar. They technically have Wi-Fi, but it slow to the point of being unusable.

Hot showers upon request, they just need to light a fire under the geyser.

Usd$10 for a single person camping.

I confirm comments below.
Willie also helped us fix our U joint of the prop shaft in his workshop.

Report Check-In

Camping 660m per person. Children 500m pp. On the parking spot. 2 person chalet/tent 5800m. Good for an overnight stay or two as the road does get a little worse going north from here. Going south from here it isn’t half bad. Plan accordingly.

Report Check-In

20 USD for 2 people for one night on the parking. We use toilets from restaurant.
They open a room for shower. No hot water.

we were on the way from Inhassoro to Ciomoio. the road is in very bad condition and it takes a lot Time. Bufalo Camp is perfect for overnight stay. We camped. Willy is a great host. he builds new campsites with toilet / shower and fireplace. will be ready at the end of September 2022. good free wifi.

Report Check-In

We asked for a camping spot and even though they normally don't have it we could park at one of the small houses get electricity and use the shower.

Report Check-In

By far one of my fauvorite places in my entire trip in East Africa.

Yes, the rooms are nice and comfortable.
Yes, there is a pool, bar, and good wifi.
Yes, the food is delicious. Specially the chicken.
Yes, there is wildlife. Birds are beautiful.

But the best part, by far, is the people. Willie, the owner, and Tian, his assistant, have another level of kindness. I had the best time with them. Not only they made sure I was comfortable, Tian even fixed my bicycle! Best mechanic I have seen in a long time.

And Willie is one of the most interesting persons I have ever met. He is humble. He will not tell you about his amazing adventures if you don't ask. But please ask. You will enjoy it.

We were going to camp here to split the journey between Chimoio and Vilankulo. When we got there they said we could camp but they couldn’t let us use a shower because all their chalets were full. They still wanted US$30 for 2 adults and 2 kids, so we decided to move on.

We did stay for lunch, which was incredibly expensive, 1000mtc for 3 tiny sandwiches and 4 soft drinks.

Probably wouldn’t come back.

Report Check-In

What an amazing overnight experience. Thank you to Willie and Tiaan. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Report Check-In

Nice stop after N1 drive. 10 USD per person per night. EDGE cellphone reception only.

Report Check-In

Its 650MT per person, thought it was per site. Nice place to stop over though.

Report Check-In

Buffalo camp still $10 pppn for rrt. open a chalet for us to use amenities. Pool looked great but we didn't join as it was later. Great night drinking and chatting to Willie and Tiann, full of stories and great advice

Report Check-In

Willie asks 10$ (650mt) now. Friendly and helpful staff and nice to have a chat with Willie and Tiaan.

Report Check-In

Buffalo camp is beautiful and peaceful, a good night's sleep is gaurenteed. The staff are very friendly and the food is fantastic. They have a great swimming pool and fire pit.

Report Check-In

Nice and safe camping spot for one night after a long day of police/military stops and potholes on N1. We stayed right beside the boma and fire, very atmospheric. Must be among the best parking lot campsites! Paid 500 mets. Chalets/tents clean but overpriced at 5000 meticals 2ppn.

Report Check-In

We stopped here for one night, because we had a problem with our bord batteries and had to charge them. So we got electricity and we could use the shower from a room (salt water). Very friendly stuff, quiet, good for one night

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay between Gorongosa and Villanculos. We have a problem with our Defender and Willie was very helpful and friendly. His staff too. We stay in the front of the restaurant on clean park sites. Willie autorized us to take a shower in his room because all the bungalows were occupeded. Toilets from the restaurant. Willie is going to make nice campsites with block ablutions / braai / elect. for dezember. Big and good restaurant. We eat Hamburger (200/220 meticals). We negocied for 400 meticals ( 600 if you have access to a bungalows for shower). We recommanded. Quiet place. Willie very interesting guy for conversation.

A very impressive roadside stop. Friendly and welcoming staff that allowed us to camp and use one of the chalet's bathrooms. For 500MT pp/pn this quiet and clean place is perfect to take a rest after a long drive on the very pot holey N1 road.

Report Check-In

They initially asked 1200 for camping, we negotiate 500, we could use the bathroom with hot shower and electricity of a room. The place is nice, restaurant is good but expensive

Report Check-In

Good overnight spot. 500Mt pp. They opened a room for us to shower in.

Report Check-In

Note that camping is definitely allowed here now, no problems. There are 3 or 4 camping spots in front of the hotel in a very pretty setting and is the best option for miles in all directions. The girl initially quoted us 1,500 MTS for the two of us but I explained what the going rate was in other camps and she spoke to the manager who agreed to 500 mts. There is no shower, electricity or wifi and there were no guests in the hotel so the restaurant was closed but it looked nice. The road to get here from the south is terrible - hope your suspension and patience is in good order.

Report Check-In

This place has plenty overseas and now has 3 camping facilities. In the bush. Willie Prinsloo the owner are busy restoring camp sites. If you see the rest of the place standards this will be a nice and safe spot. 842905263. I do not have a price yet as Willie let us stay for free the night. The restaurant is 5 star. Prices on food good. [email protected]. The farm is aprox 650 000 hectares. Bird watching, walk tours etc.

Report Check-In

No nice camping anymore here. No tents accepted anymore. Cheapest room at 5000 mtc 😲. Camping 5 km further down the road at a noisy truck stop for 400 mtc pppn. Same owner. We do NOT recommend.
