Senegal
No 'in person' visa now, need to pay on SNEDAI website, then bring eVisa & passport to the embassy for a stamp.
We don't have any photos of this place yet.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Very difficult to have a visa there if you're driving to ivory coast. Better doing it in Conakry
Report Check-InConfirming all below - No visa issuance for Overlanders without Senegal residence permit.
Head to Conakry.
DO NOT USE - The CdI embassy in Dakar is useless. They will accept you online payment but refuse you a visa in travelling overland. under no circumstances will they issue visas for overlanders. Go to Guinea Bissau or Guinea Conakry embassies instead.
Report Check-InAfter having done the e-visa online at https://snedai.com/e-visa/ we went here to get the visa stamp and was told that they are no longer are doing this and that we would have to go to Conakry, where the chap was adamant that they would do this for us without problem. Very polite about it all though
Report Check-InNeed to get eVisa on SNEDAI website, then bring the paper to the embassy to get stamped. No in person application here.
Report Check-Inno way to get the visa if you dont have a plane tycket. apprently it was still possible until end 2022 but the ambassy received new instruction from the minister wich make them not able to deliver visa to overlander. I spoke with 4 differents personne at the ambassy. 3 of them where unhelpful. The lasy one much nicer but no way to help me anyway.
Before to go to the ambassy i did the prepayment of 58 euros and i had to book an apointement. It doesnt help. I couldnt get my money back either.
good luck travelers !

Report Check-InI made prepayment online 58€ and I fixed appointment online. I went there and an employ put in the system my Visa request and all document attached. One day later ambassy called me because my Visa was approved e ready.
Report Check-Inremarkable unhelpful and ignorant staff. It was not possible to get a Visa, apparently only residents. Tourists only via plane to Abidjan and E-Visa. Involving the embassy of Ivory Coast in Germany did not help, although they even organised an appointment at the embassy in Dakar after we were refused the first day. They said this is since Covid (2020), but according to older comments the problem persists longer.
we will try again in Bissau, let's hope...
We just were refused the visa, no bribing or arguing worked out. They said only for Senegalese anymore and for foreigners only e visa but that only works when flying in. We will try in Bissau.
Report Check-InThey didn't give me the Visa (Canadian passport) because I'm not a resident of Senegal. I don't think they were looking for bribes. I asked if there was no way to get it here and the lady said no.
Report Check-InOpen from 10 until 16:00. Pause from 13 to 14:00. Must use paints (no shorts) and shoes, like a adult/monsieur.
Report Check-Inindeed 85k CFA for the Visa, because not Senegalese resident. Sounds like a rip off to me, maybe someone keeps the money for themselves. had to take it though :-(
Report Check-InSadly quite unhelpful and unfriendly staff.
Was a hassle just to get information on the documents needed.
Finally had the info but they sent us away and asked to come on Monday to apply.
They requested 85000 FCFA per person (!). There was an official document with prices, should be 33000 (2014, updated 38000 in 2018) for short stay/tourism. The 85000 are for “urgent applications” or non resident or people driving a car (never one straight reason), one guy told us it’s an informal rule for people transiting by car and not the real fees.
Left without applying as they would not go down on the price

yellow fever copy
passport copy
said you needed hotel booking but we didn't have any
letter explaining your trip.
They say they only issue visas to residents of Senegal, but we explained that we were driving and did not know what our date of entry would be. We met with the Ambassador, very friendly, explained our trip, and were issued the visa, picked it up the next day.
payable only in CFA, but forgot how much? 30,000 I think? could be wrong though.
Report Check-In33,000 cfa for visa
UK Passport
Make sure have print of booking confirmation. i just did a booking.com and will cancel it
